Funny that no one in fiction ever assumes the blackmailer to simply be lying about knowing something.

There is nothing easier than writing "I know your secret" and just hope the victim has any secret they hide. Especially if there already are rumours/suspicions flying around.

And how often in manga is the exact outcome that the blackmailer thought about a completely different secret (usually a pretty harmless one) xD

pretty sure he's not THAT old, since dad (his oldest son as far as we know) may not even be 40 (mom is 36 in chapter one , and chapter 3 flashbacks shows him looking like a teenager when he met 16 year old mom)

Also, as I've mentioned, the other two could have been adopted (non-biological) - like from a previous marriage , since their mother (grandpa's wife isn't seen).

Considering the unnecessary hostility in this family the only reasonable move for MC would be to ask for some money, which they seem to have in spades. I'd guess that 2m usd should be enough for him and his mom to buy a house and work only to amuse themselves, not because they need it.
