It's not the character that is confusing, it's the author !!!!!!!! LOL
I see Sakura as the selfish type of person who can do absolutely anything as long as it benefits her, and if someone tells her that she is not wrong, she will only further reinforce her belief that her wrong actions are not wrong, and not care about how her actions will hurt someone. She loves the feeling of being cared for and looked after by her boyfriend, rather than loving the person he actually is.
Seems fine to have that view, I think we'll see more of her character unravel over the next few chapters, maybe Nagi is able to drag out some of her inner thoughts in regards to Shinobu. Right now she doesn't know she's doing anything wrong, she's pressing forward in the only way she thinks she can. To completely remove any lifeline that still might be left for her character, KA would need to show her completely being in love with fucboi after mere months of the breakup. Until that is seen there's plenty of plot devices to keep spinning the story with.
I feel like this focus on Shinobu's career works for an arc or two. Lets assume the movie takes up an arc and that goes well but after that, the story is then "finished", because there's nothing left; MC's wil be forever split, everyone is "happy" and their careers are flourishing THE END. Fumi is a side character, the ShiFumi ship is sailing but an FMC swap won't work because author will be pulled into rinse/repeating the same cycle with Fumi in order to build her up and frankly Fumi's background isn't nearly as interesting to learn about because she's been managing just fine in the industry on her own compared to Sakura. Being a burden wasn't Sakura's only role, she was also an emotional support anchor for Shinobu who himself was on the verge of giving up his own dreams in the beginning, neither would be where they are without the other. Personally I'd much rather keep seeing if those feelings between the two still remain, and if it does then where it can take them in story from here instead of watching KA scramble around to appease fans and try to build up a new romance for the MCs in the remaining chapters.
When he was with Sakura, did Shinobu ever properly pursue his own dream? Or was he just running around to support Sakura? Sakura claimed that now is the time to go back to supporting Shinobu and that she could go to the studio by herself, but her actions were completely different; she always showed a depressed face when those blonde girls asked, 'Where is your manager?' or kept silent in agreement when they criticized Shinobu. When Shinobu was busy, she smiled to see him off, but behind his back, she put on an unhappy face... I don't see her serving any purpose as a source of emotional support for Shinobu's career at all; before this, it has always been only Shinobu who was the support for her.
It's because he supported Sakura and when they ended up going to that venue where he met his old friend (Kazu) that he was able to secure a path to pursue his director dreams. Sakura avoids direct confrontation so that behavior from her was perfectly normal for her character, as for her being sad behind his back, its natural to want someone you love to devote all their attention to you. Without Sakura, Shinobu would still be working at that convenience store, buying gravure magazines, and awkwardly nerding out at fan meets.
Well, let's just consider that Shinobu and Sakura's fate has run out and they could only accompany each other this far; from now on, those two will go their separate ways. Even so, Sakura's act of infidelity is still truly disgusting.
No one really knows if our MC's fate has run its course just yet. They are definitely going to have at least one face to face before the manga ends, and absolutely no one is lawyering up to defend the cheating.
Maybe Sakura and Shinobu will meet again sooner, or perhaps when Sakura goes to audition for Shinobu's movie, for example.
You have no need to worry, they are 99.99% going all the way. There's only one person that wants otherwise and even I can't deny it with enough confidence. Only thing I can point out is that Shinobu seems carried forward by the mood that was set and the physical attraction he feels towards Fumi so if I wanted to irk some people here I'd say this first time of their would be closer to a "sex without love" type, but that's getting way too into the human psyche than I'd like to bother.
The important thing is that we will have truly beautiful lovemaking scenes. But I think with Shinobu's personality, if he has decided to make love, he must have certainly been moved by her—it is like the warm feelings he received from Fumi in the past were just waiting for this exact moment to burn fiercely.
Oh no I am fine with that. It's what Nagi will say to Sakura, and what Sakura will reply to her that worries me a bit.
