But is that really all that cheap? It's 110 gold a month... and that's with them purchasing the property. Just some napkin math puts that around 6750$ a month or 85000$ in usd.

For perspective, thats like purchasing a mid modle cyber truck every year or a leasing a new home every 5 years... So I'm not sure I would exactly call that cheap. Not that they couldn't afford it, but still that is an obscene ammount of money to be charged monthly for what is essentially just land and rundown buildings.

Very common sales tactic; introduce several products that kinda meet customer needs/wants but not really, then show one that perfectly or near perfectly fits.

That's on the expectation that there is always going to be Ground Sheep or Surprise Black Orc Settlement-level quests every month, which isn't feasible.

Also, between Miyabi blowing most of his money on crafting materials and Liz often donating half of her reward money every time, who's to say they would be financially stable enough to maintain upkeep every month?

Now that Liz is enrolled in the academy at the Capital, it's not like she can skip school and go on days long quests like the investigation that lead to the subjugation of the Black Orc Settlement or an escort quest for 2+ weeks.

Cheap, rundown mansions tend to have ghosts in these stories... but what if the author subverts the trope so the problem isn't the ghosts but something wrong below the land itself and our guy ends up digging it out, as he usually does.
