Honestly, as soon as it become your average superpowered protag vs superpowered antag battle manga, it lost all of it's charm and became quite boring.

It's a funny to hear about this after some folks initially demanded that this manga be removed from Shonen Jump because it's supposedly "not battle shonen enough." Another question is, if the author truly intends to make it more traditional, anime-only viewers will receive a rather drastic genre shift in the show.

Yeah, I partly agree with you. I also thought the shift from a slice-of-life to a battle shonen happened way too suddenly. But I still think it's too early to say the manga has become "boring" like you said. I'm still kind of shocked by how drastic the change in style was, so I'm not really enjoying it that much right now. But let's wait and see where the story goes.

Also, you can try and justify it however you like, it is still insane that this high school girl so easily starts fighting this dragon and especially this well. You'd have to work harder for me to accept how fast this went from high school fantasy drama to dragon fighting.

The fight is kinda disappointing, tbh. Ruri didn't get to use much of her abilities, and the ones she did use were unimaginatively employed. The reason for the fight was pretty meh, too; and the guy constantly meddling instead of letting the dragons sort it out among themselves didn't make it any better. Meh.

Yep, now, 49 chapters in, it's finally fully switching to battle shonen. Ruri's going on a grand tour around the world, fighting ever more powerful dragons, until she becomes the Dragon Queen.
Totally what's going to happen with this manga. No slice of life again in it, ever.
