tbh, not only does the translation rubs with the wrong way, with the way they make Ruri talk, but the whole plot is nonsensical.

All characters seem to painfully try to look and talk cool, but imo it's really cringe.

When the manga started there was a translator guy in the comment section that insisted this official translation absolutely sucks because it destroys the real personality of the characters. The typical millenial english localization affair, making all the characters sound permanently snarky, sarcastic and quippy.
Some other people argued against him, but I'm inclined to think he was right. Something about the translation always felt off for me, especially the banter between Ruri and her mother.

I theorize the dragon is doing a territorial animal thing, and either testing Ruri or it'll back off when she demonstrates she's not worth messing with. She'll probably blast it a few times and then it'll be like "screw this, I don't want this mountain enough to fight her to the death over it." And go away.

10 bucks that the tatted out guy is the one Ruri came to visit, and the berserk dragon is another kid learning to control their powers

My random theory is the guy is the handler but the dragon she meets is also a kid because he or she is Ruris half sibling and about the same age.

I just recently got back into this story after not having read it in like a few years but I'd hope as well that this doesn't turn into a constant fight manga. I enjoyed the light heartedness but have gotten a little sad seeing there being limits to her freedom
