Figuring out the reports were not lies requires logic they don't seem to possess.

These guys were trying to weaken their army during war, and left one front completely undefended. Both are beyond stupid.

Yep, imagine if MC was NOT in that chokepoint when the chick who offered to marry him if he defected to her side and her people attacked. They'd have massacred the LOT OF THEM there and likely in the base! Yep, someone WILL have to take responsability, as the fort is full of dead bodies and injured soldiers and the local boss is barely clinging to life someone from the outside will have to investigate the events, they were in a hurry to kill MC by adding the crime of rebelling to the clown court, they didn't want any chance.
Even if they believed that MC had sent false reports the hurry in trying to kill him was weird.
If the sword remains lost it could be used from the investigators to discover from enemry reports that a lone soldier with it hold the border, or maybe it will return later in the hands of some corrupt warrior from the kingdom MC is in and he will have to fight to get it back, I just don't believe it will be simply forgotten even if now he have a magic fast delivery blacksmith.

I think the Clown said it before he tried to execute MC, they were hoping to paint Outsiders like him as "unreliable" so they wouldn't be pushed to hire them anymore by using HIM as a Scapegoat for WHY they shouldn't! Anyway, talking about it made my curiosity surge and I checked the novel raws online:

The bastard punishment is nothing, he got sent to the front MC was defending, remember that the army thought that place was safe after MC survived and still didn't believe in the reports, so it was just a exile, he was sent with around 30 soldiers, after a short time getting the position they got attacked from the enemy country that launched a stealth attack, the elites got to him and threatened him for answers, he lied about MC (or followed his mental version of the events) and they corrected him, making clear how everything MC said was ture, he defended the area alone and struck pure terror on their country soldiers, at a point some lost all their hair for the shock, realizing he got nothing to say they just abandon him there, the escort soldiers all long dead, and leaving with a comment that MC was so dangerous even the local monsters were avoiding the place and they had noticed he was gone, you can imagine the corrupt asshole fate from there.

I thought MC sword wasn't something simple, the design is unique and the hilt seems to have a closed eye, it is in fact a cursed sword with conscious that adores MC, it can even move on its own, it can even change MC appearance a bit, that made him become known as a berkersker fighter and who meet him couldn't fully recognize him (added to how he was super dirty in the frontier so people thought he was hiding his appearance).

the punishment in itself was the relocation, if he was found out to have killed the other military noble and framed MC for it they would have executed him, as he was found missing a arm and a ear they most likely thought he was another victim, the relocation maybe wasn't even a real punishment now that I think back on it, they sent him to a place that was defended by a single person, even if said guy was stronger than they believed it doesn't change how sending a group of 30 soldiers would be enough to defend it, because they still wouldn't fully believe MC reports.

MC found the sword and the sword found MC, I'm unsure for the MTL on the site but it lloks like someone from the ex enemy country retrieved it and was controlled by it possibly, but when MC found it it was after following signs of dragging on the ground, as the sword moved on its own, he found it in a ruined village surrounded by monsters too scared to move, MC refeered to the behaviour like a loyal dog.
The translation wasnt super clear.
