We've hit the "now the only thing that's left for the main couple is the confession arc so we're gonna drive off a cliff straight into the side couples' drama" moment that every romcom does. If the side characters were fleshed out earlier on I don't mind it, but here it feels kinda forced

Though if he returned, what would they talk about? The two of them really have nothing in common other than being childhood friends. Though they might of been able to discover more about each other. It would be great to have a chapter of them just sitting and talking. I feel like this entire series is built on surface level things and things almost happening.

this chapter reminded me of when i had a mad teachers crush during highschool. It was quite embarrassing since im like half a second slow when replying or talking to her that she genuinely got concerned if i was feeling sick

For some reason between the title and this, I assumed that the teacher is concerned (or already aware) of an incoming storm followup, and was doing his due diligence to make sure there aren't any other stragglers.

But it might be figuratively referring to the emotional storms stirring in these kids' hearts.

As for the student teacher... Eh. Wait and see. I mean what's the worst that could happen? Another Kodomo no J-

I worked for a college and I will tl;dr you:

The school selection process was a 100% fair and unbiased lottery system.
But somehow, every year no one - NO ONE - who wasn't married or had a noticeably present stable gf/bf was ever drew a highschool for their student teaching assignment.

She's exactly the kind of character/person that falls for an older guy who ends up needing to let her down firmly but compassionately. It'll hopefully help her focus on enjoying her youth as a child instead of rushing things.

They've been setting up this arc for her with how she acts a little more "mature" than the others, and mentioned not liking boys her age. Many of us had our own teacher crushes growing up, and this author hasn't sexualized any of the cast so far at all. I trust that it won't be a taboo development, and I don't think it's a weird story beat, personally.

Ironically, this is something that young teacher will need to get good at navigating, because Lulu ain't gonna be the last girl to get a crush lmao

I can see it now: the epilogue, set five years from now, will include a sequence where Lulu confesses again to Izumi-sensei and succeeds. Also included: Riku and Kanako getting married straight out of high school, Ryouga finally confessing to Reina, and Shunpei holding hands with An.

I love you include all that progress yet Shunpei and An was only at holding hands 😭
