Oh God, I was gonna mope about the lack of Yuri and Erika being written off
But damn didn't expect to see a war :dogkek:

I don't even know if I want to contribute to it. Honestly I kinda skimmed it. I understand Spanish so I'll trust the Spanish bros when that drops

This translation argument is a distraction from the lack of Erika not Scissoring my girl Akebi :nyoron:
#bringbackErika or at least give me the 2nd couple. Mai was giving Oshizu the fu* me eyes.

Honestly, even though I reported it, no action was taken by the moderators. Furthermore, this wasn't his first time using AI, as every project he's taken on was done with AI—not to mention his whole group is based on AI slop.
When it was my first time doing a project, so many people criticized me. I didn't get it, but I didn't hate on it either, since many people appreciated my work and looked forward to my next release. Knowing I had room to improve, I worked hard, and now I'm way better than before. I'm not perfect, but I used that criticism and feedback as motivation to improve my upcoming project
Unlike me—or anyone else who tries to improve—this person just continues to upload AI slop. I'm not sure if the moderators will even take action at this point, considering this user has already uploaded more than 100 projects and nothing has been done about it.

Can’t we all just report their upload? Not sure if quality guidelines exist here though.
Only valid reports (precisely regarding the guidelines) are taken in consideration, and it doesn't matter if something is mass-reported or not. If you make too many invalid reports you'll have your account restricted. Long story short, poor quality scanlations (either if they're snips or not) don't go against the guidelines.

  • Depending on the time they check the reports, they can be solved within the same day or the following days, but there's also a change they end up buried up and don't get solved. If after some days they're not answered, it is recommended to try luck on Discord.
  • The usage of AI is forbidden if we're talking about an automated tool that does both typesetting and cleaning/redrawing, things like using MTL and typesetting them have always been allowed in MangaDex. If you think the entire process is automated, then report it in detail so the mods can see the same as you. Otherwise, no action is going to be taken.
  • Multiple versions of a chapter by different groups are allowed, since GaySailorScans has already done the chapter you can politely ask them to upload them here as well as soon as they do it on Dynasty.

They post it on Dynasty. Then they wait 1 or 2 days and then post it here on MDex.
So everybody, just be a bit patient (or go read it on Dynasty)

I have no issues with that, I was only pointing out that they can read it now (there) and this won't prevent them from uploading this one MangaDex. If they really have interest they would find out that if they went to their server, telling the new kids "be patient" basically causes the opposite effect.

Oh, I know... Was just explaining further that nobody had to actually go and post it since the scanlators themselves would post it in a day or 2...

I'll move on when Ai stops existing and we can go back to the good old days of translation
#endaislop except in anime... If companies are gonna pay a bunch of Activist to make up bullshit subs then bring back AI. :nyoron:

Can this version be deleted? I accidentally picked this one because I didn't really think about which one to read. I was super confused and a lot of what the text said felt really wrong. Then I read the other version which actually made sense and was a significantly better overall experience.

I kinda wish I had read the better version first, as this was a really good chapter that was ruined by the bad translation. I'd imagine there are plenty of people like myself who just click without looking and it sucks that they'd have to read such a bad translation. I guess there is a report functionality, but I'm wondering who actually goes in and deletes the bad ones?

If you can read Japanese then why the fuck are you even here xDDDDDDD
To preface, OP should do this work for other series, especially those that have been neglected

That being said it's always funny to see people bitching for what is free labor

Waaaaaaaaa its free and quick, but it isn't up to my standards boo hoo boo hoo

You people are picky cunts, if you care THAT much about having every speech bubble being perfect, then wait for an official release
First, although I have my reservations, I partially agree with the first sentiment. But also maybe make it readable atleast? Or just make it fit the context the graphics is alluding to. Is that really too much? Like the AI becomes partially permissible if time is given to actually proof read the final translation. (Also when did "readable" in a reading based medium become a glorified standard??? Have we really regressed that much?? Wait... was the translation actually enjoyable to you??? Thats...that's actually more concerning ngl...)

Second, "waaaaaa its free and quick, but its not up to my standard" again nobody's complaining about how long the updates take and also what df happened to taking time to do the bare fvking minimum?? Lmaooo

Third, This dude set the bar for their reading preference too low it actually feels disrespectful to argue. In the eyes of someone settling for less, ofc someone wanting better would be a picky cunt. Whatever slop criteria you have for gauging what works are meaningful to you, Im sorry.

You sound like you're contradicting yourself... You want it to be readable, but then you ask when "readable" in a reading medium become a standard... I are cornfuze. Unless you're James Joyce writing Finnegan's Wake (which is a completely different can of worms that I don't wanna open), readability is ABSOLUTELY the standard. Especially in a reading medium. Also, if you (in general) are going to translate something, it needs to actually be understood by people reading it, since it's somebody else's writing you're translating and you want them to understand what the author actually wrote.

Babe you missed "glorified" (。•́︿•̀。) Readability is the absolute base standard, the bare minimum of all standards in the simplest sense that there's a supposed futility in translating only to end up with a blurb of text no one could understand. We agree on that front.

What I'm trying to highlight here is the exact irony of @dachaida's argument. Like what do they mean by "its not up to my standard"? When my (and also others here) standard has always been the bare minimum readability. Them stating it that way makes it seem like readability is an unattainable condition, a "glorified" standard. A standard not fit for this site or a standard Gtrefat(TL) somehow cannot achieve. A statement that's simply a disservice to all parties.

TLDR: Im not saying readability shouldn't be the standard, I already believe that it is. Dachaida's the one saying readability is too much to ask for, which is WILD LMAOO

Here's the course of the dispute so far as I've seen it unravel:

Gtrefat(TL) publishing a difficult to read/lackluster translation.
Everyone expresses their discontent and gives critiques, ultimately asking TL to be better.
Dachaida arguing we're all picky cunts because we "asked for more" (using the "beggars cant be choosers" framework).
When in reality all we asked for is the bare minimum readability and respect for the author's prose and artistry 😭

This whole ordeal is just peak ass comedy. Hope that clears things up. Lol.

(Also Finnegans Wake, I passed by that title a couple of times now and now I kinda wanna pick it up. Is it good?)
