Thanks for the profound, all-encompassing, irony-missing level of condescension! It's much appreciated.

Literally the entire history of human culture has involved exceptional women having to justify their presence again and again to men who are less capable than them and utterly unwilling to offer even the most basic level of respect from one human to another. The list of grievances he cited from random nobody assholes is a textbook example of that. Even having to explain the problem like this to other skeptical, disinterested men has been a challenge for thousands of years.

So kudos for maintaining such a long and storied tradition, I guess.
Well, there are the presuppositions you're attacking at again. You might notice I was never talking about women or men, very specifically. Only bad practices for anyone in a role the character in question is in.

No wonder you see such grievances everywhere, if you're that hostile straight off the bat. Jeez. You talk a lot about lack of respect and condescension, but that's mainly what you've put out from the start. I didn't seriously come into this with some fight in mind.

Oh definitely. The rest of their comment is insightful, as well. I'm just very, very tired of any non-action chapter to be referred to as "fluff" when it's anything but.
Well, often "fluff" is the word used as the opposite to "crunch", where crunch is everything related to raw numbers, lines on a map or RPG stats and such, while fluff is the less quantifiable stuff, like interpersonal matters, character growth, world building flavour and philosophical changes et al. Just expanding on this in the case that the OG comment you responded to meant this different kind of fluff.

But I definitely get what you mean and agree. If the "fluff" in either of these two meanings didn't really matter, then all we'd really want to read would be recaps and excel sheets.

TTRPG/gaming fluff and reading fluff are really only tangentially related. In reading, fluff is empty, unnecessary filler words that bloats a work; "words without real substance", in other words. In the context of manga, panels of images that do the same thing, padding out a chapter or book with filler content. Not as a derived opposite for crunch-as-meaning. "fluff" also should not be misread as being the same as "fluffy".

This world really seems to struggle with the concept of complicated people with more than one personality trait.

Its been a while since i caught up to this manga, so what is MC's power again? Is he just good at talk no jutsu? or is the world he's in just the type that is so ignorant of hidden intentions that they cannot even define the words "scheming" or "plotting".
The latter. Hell these guys didn’t know the concept of putting salt on food until the MC showed up.

True, I'd personally also consider your interpretation as the "more correct/topical" one, as nebulous as that is to rate. I just pretty consistently encounter the that other meaning being used, which is why brought it up. Separating mistaken intention from mistaken conveyance and all that.

To be fair they never needed it, magic substitutes nutrients so they never felt the need to use salt so no estate or big medieval salt business was ever created.

Appreciatively meticulous character development between the cast here. A partnership beyond an understanding either of them have at this point without really the need for there to be a relationship between them. Honestly makes me wonder why Illias isn't a man tbh.
