a few things I believe

she's gonna be mad about him walking with another woman (the elf. and also about him having a backlog of several other women too)

he plans on genuinely fixing them up rather than as weapons of war

the super cool mid boss beastwoman is gonna be a hardcore supporter after getting fixed up, probably a recurring character

Oh no, Folsina found out about the MC's secret hideout. There's definitely gonna be a misunderstanding scene next chapter :haa:

Mark tries to explain the situation and clear up the misunderstanding. Then he takes Folsina to the forest.

★ There, Mark hunts a Mana Beast. The materials he gets from the monster are used to make Extra Potion.

The prisoners in the basement of his alchemy room are Beastfolk, young women who lost body parts because of severe injuries. They are slaves who were legally purchased.

Using the Extra Potion he created, Mark tries to restore the body parts they lost.

★ Actually, all of this was part of Mark’s plan before he regained the memories of his previous life.

At first, he planned to carry out forbidden human experiments to create artificial humans. He got the information about that experiment from one of his subordinates, Alamund.

But Mark also knows that in the future, Alamund will betray him. After Mark’s death in the original story, all of those research results will fall into the hands of another organization.

★ After regaining his previous-life memories, Mark starts thinking about changing that plan.

He does not want to be branded as a villain for doing human experiments.

Since Folsina already knows about the existence of those slaves, Mark finally decides to change the experiment into new potion research that can heal their bodies.

thank you for translation

Because the elf chick isn't loyal to him, she's a spy that would probably kill him or set him up for death if she suspected he wasn't going to follow through with the conspiracy she tricked the original dude into. He can't guarantee he can defeat her and even if she doesn't kill him he's involved in enough shady business that she could basically just have someone else come in reveal he was a traitor or that he has a secret torture dungeon hidden in his basement filled with crippled slave girls which his daughter probably won't like. It's not that he doesn't want to change this, he's already doing his best to put a halt to this without revealing his hand, it's just that if he fucks it up he either gets killed by the elf, revealed as traitor, or his daughter discovers he's an evil monster with a fetish for non-blood related crippled cat girls.
The part about being into non-blood related people is surely the most unforgivable.

Yep, as annoying as it is, he has reasons for his relatively tame handling of events. I'm also wondering if there was a bit more to the whole plot for the cripples originally, since it seems like there were reasons for the original dude to want to rebel beyond wanting more power.

It was mentioned in this chapter - he was told that it might allow him to resurrect his wife.

I got impatient and read a translated work for the... WN? LN? I don't know. Interesting story indeed.

It is one of those things where you gain access to the Extra Data that explains a whole bunch of things in the background for VNs and you kinda can relate to Mark's original path.

I would imagine that losing a significant piece of yourself (a dearly beloved wife) and all the pressures of being a Duke would drive one into madness. However, that human experimentation was indeed a step too far. In terms of motivation on the condemnation tho, I'm sure part of it is because he was doing really bad no no things to Kemonomimi girls.

Seeing I know what will eventually happen (and I see some people putting it on spoilers), I wouldn't really comment further on the chapter itself.

I'm not really too sure as to what direction this work will go, but the whole premise really did get flipped at its head.
With Forsina actually pushing MC to become King. Considering MC's goals, it is like, one of the last things he wants to do

Thanks for the TL, and I hope that the manga keeps on chugging along. Honestly, I find the pacing now to be so slow vs LN reading. Maybe I'm just impatient lol

Next chapter gonna be "oh no dad, why did you gather crippled young girl" and have a fathercon breakdown for like 3 panels or something and then he probably gonna heal the slaves to justify it, the daughter gonna be like, wow he is such a good person and so on.

Where do I get my Polymarket money and yes I am drunk :aquadrink:
As for "that room", it is similar enough to a legitimate surgery room (sans the restraints). So it could be used for legitimate medical treatment.
