Such a dumb, awful ending. No resolution, no evolution of their relationship -- hell the last 40 chapters or so felt like it didn't have any romantic development whatsoever, despite this supposedly being a romcom... Rugpull. Disappointing. Not reading anything else from this mangaka ever again.

i adore the way the series conveys and matches the emotions wit the audience. It really is a work of art.
it wasn’t perfect and nether was the ending but maybe theres hope for a chapter 200 or things in the spin-off. I’ve been dealing with criticising Cerise I love a lot this year. And have learned a lot about loving, excepting and still being critical about something. Even still this will be missed.

good to know the anime is returning for a season 3. And that the spin of is going to keep going.
also in the novel cover pages. There is an illustration of them with there kid on the back. 😊 (I’m pretty sure.)

Heh, I'll remember the cute moments but I suppose this is rarely the place to come for internally consistent art. It's really disappointing when fans speculating about what could be done with characters come up with things more interesting and meaningful than what's ending up on the page.

Like okay, sorry for thinking we'd either have an arc about Yamada starting to get famous, it's not like making her an idol was kinda relevant!

I sort of get it, where the big conflicts are resolved or at least resolved-ish and the manga would be really boring with very little drama or tension so it'd just be random bullshit drama injections we'd all hate.

But man that was dull thump of a ending.

I wouldn't its bad. Its not the story is leading any big unanswered questions other than "when does moe-chan get her boyfwei?"

But it IS an incredibly disappointing ending; that this how our time with the characters ends, especially the side characters. We'll get glimpses of Ichi & Yamada in the spin off, but I really doubt we're going to see any resolution or progress on the side characters and that is what I'm really let down by.

Conflicting opinions, but seems that most people found it underwhelming, me included. The story really declined in its latter stage, which is unfortunate considering how good it was for a time.

Many important plot points still unresolved. No real conclusion to the direction of their relationship - more open ended finale. But who knows, it's kinda strange ending it on ch.199 instead of 200, so we might get an additional chapter and timeskip

8 years ago I was 15 when I first discovered it and put it down after seeing how horrifingly edgy incel it was.

Picked it up again later and saw that simple loving romance that no real romcom captures. Their all wrapped in some narnia where people fall in love by way of ant pheremones. Here its small push and pull of two prickly hedgehogs slowly growing closer with every small interaction. The later chapters, the ending and other plot threads doesnt know how to capture that but that fondness and maturity is something thats present in C199 and ill going to carry that forever and use for my own romcom

Depends on who you ask, but since I think Dangers was way better than 'My dress up darling' I can agree that this finale was more of a let down, just because the expectations were higher.

Still a better ending than Suzuka.
I'd have like to see them get older and face more things, but I'll wait and see what the side story is doing. Then go right back to being annoyed if it has none of that.
But seriously though. It's not the ending I wanted, but if the story was meant to end with graduation I was never going to get what I wanted in the first place. I don't hate it, I just wish there was more. I don't feel ready to let go yet, if that makes sense.
Also, seeing him go right on up there to that stage without a care about anyone else made me really happy.
