yotsuyu had safe search off, noooooOh no, Yotsuyu has discovered activities. Maybe it was a good thing she did not get hyper from coffee.
In case someone here doesn't know, Tiramisu is made with coffee. Which means there's a fair amount of caffeine in it.Especially if there's Tiramisu for dessert.
okay then, how do you explain that they have insect eyes?Just to be particularily annoying: spiders aren't insects.![]()
They don't. "Insect eyes" are compound eyes, made of many little units. Spiders have simple eyes, single lenses with a wide angle of view. They literally couldn't be more different.okay then, how do you explain that they have insect eyes?
Why are they so off-putting then? They don't. "Insect eyes" are compound eyes, made of many little units. Spiders have simple eyes, single lenses with a wide angle of view. They literally couldn't be more different.
Because the world hates us and made sure we'd hate life in turn, hundreds of millions of years before the first hominids emerged. Why are they so off-putting then?
so, from evolutionary point of view there's no difference between insects and spiders for us?Because the world hates us and made sure we'd hate life in turn, hundreds of millions of years before the first hominids emerged.
For anyone wanting a geeky anwser, it's an evolutionary trait. Apparently avoiding them was beneficial from a survival standpoint, so we're equipped with the motivation to do just that.
There definetly is. There have been studies where infants were shown images of various animals, spiders among them. A statistically significant amount of times, their responses were far more negative to a particular set of them, spiders included. Even when compared to equally potentially dangerous arthropods. In general, insects, while often a nuisance simply did not have the same profile as ambush predators like snakes or spiders in the minds of our ancestors. They mostly illicit revulsion when around our food supplies. Only through modern science do we recognize how many of them are harmful to us. It's not quite the same wow-factor as sitting down absent-mindedly and being bitten on the ass by an unseen creature, whose venom may be strong enough to cause complications or death.so, from evolutionary point of view there's no difference between insects and spiders for us?
well, for me at least
If my knowledge of spiders is on par it will cease to be cohabitation after that, because she's going to eat the person she's cohabitating with. The spider is learning, how will this impact her cohabitation?
Well, if we're going to be true to nature, spiders don't cohabitate in the first placeIf my knowledge of spiders is on par it will cease to be cohabitation after that, because she's going to eat the person she's cohabitating with.
True, I wonder how much the yokai in this story resemble their animal counterparts. It's the first manga I've read where kitsune couldn't eat chocolate.Well, if we're going to be true to nature, spiders don't cohabitate in the first place![]()
Not very much, from what I gather. The spider girl's only relation to real spiders seem to be eating bugs and having some spider-like anatomy. Even the chocolate situation is portrayed as a matter of getting used to it, when in reality, any animal unable to metabolize theobromine and caffeine will not somehow gain the required enzymes by eating a lot of the substance...True, I wonder how much the yokai in this story resemble their animal counterparts. honestly this design is on the more appealing (or at least, least off-putting) side of things, all things considered. still weird but not as off-putting as at least a few attempts i've seen (especially if it's an artist who's really into the insectoid side of things- those can get genuinely upsetting imo), the biggest problem with her design is STILL those fucking fleshy spider arms-- shrink-wrapping skin over otherwise standard-shaped insect bits is fuckin gross & there's a reason that kind of thing is usually relegated to shit like Silent Hill monsters or whatever lol. even people who dislike bugs agree that normal-textured carapace is less gross than those weird rubbery flesh sleevesugh, I still can't stand insect eyes...just give me the fluff...
maybe I just can't stand nonconventional number of eyes, be it 1, 3 or 8.honestly this design is on the more appealing (or at least, least off-putting) side of things, all things considered. still weird but not as off-putting as at least a few attempts i've seen (especially if it's an artist who's really into the insectoid side of things- those can get genuinely upsetting imo), the biggest problem with her design is STILL those fucking fleshy spider arms-- shrink-wrapping skin over otherwise standard-shaped insect bits is fuckin gross & there's a reason that kind of thing is usually relegated to shit like Silent Hill monsters or whatever lol. even people who dislike bugs agree that normal-textured carapace is less gross than those weird rubbery flesh sleeves
if it was chitin or whatever there'd be (at least a hint of) a seam at the joints since the hard structural parts and the soft flexible parts have to be composed of different materials, but it's the same unbroken, soft-looking texture the whole way down every time they're drawn, even the cover to vol. 6. at least it's not actually the same color as her skin (the only possible way it could be worse) but idk the way the artist draws the spider limbs makes me think of the limbs of a critically emaciated person with too many joints over a spider, lol, hence the silent hill body horror remarkmaybe I just can't stand nonconventional number of eyes, be it 1, 3 or 8.
As for spider legs — strange, to me they are drawn as some boney, carapacey texture, no? I thought they're covered with chitin, like, since her first appearance
