Think that would fall under cultural differences. While it might be correct in many of Earth's militaries, it doesn't necessarily need be the same in theirs.

Her ability is to just tip the scales ever so slightly in favour of her "allies" and away from her "enemies".
That's actually insanely strong.
Nobody can sense it.
Nobody can fight it.
You just got "unlucky" at the wrong time and got the worst outcome.
