My thoughts exactly. When you surrender, you are admitting defeat.

Unless the task was actually to "kill" the dragon... I wonder if the original japanese used a word for defeat that implies killing the enemy. That would explain the weird situation where she defeated the dragon but keeps saying she didn't "defeat" the dragon.

Or it was an assumption that ordinarily, defeat = kill.

So why did Merlin wait until near tye castle to make this suggestion? Makes no sense noone thought itd be a bad idea to rock up in the air with a dragon
