Nice to see confirmation on Mikura being a clone.

Concerning the end of the chapter and her goals, I think there's still a lot that we're missing. It's clear that at that point she wants to use Maru/Yamato's ability to eliminate the man eaters and save what's left of humanity's future (and shape it in what ways she can in her ideal), but I get the feeling we're missing information between this point and when she passes away. It's important to note that she when she grabbed the CC. Typha, she said that if it exists then what Sawatari said must've been true as well, followed by "Either Yamato or the other one will do." This seems to imply that she wasn't planning on using it and only wanted to see it for confirmation about the rest of the diary. Also, Kiruko noted Mikura seemed to actually be fond of Maru at the end, and if she told him to use the CC. Typha on Yamato then that means she likely knew he was the clone, which begs the question of how did she know that? I don't think this is the last we'll see of Mikura. Another question is why she didn't have Maru use his ability to kill her and prevent her from turning into a man eater?

Personal theory, but I believe the hiruko that's made a cocoon around Mina is Tarao. The official translation here says that Michika thinks Tarao did throw a rock, and strangely the diary is found by a carved rock. The September 20th entry is likely referring to Nata becoming conscious again and then their unit being maintained.

Overall pretty crazy chapter, feels like it's setting everything up for the final act and would likely be the end point for s2 (if it happens).

Oh man, the indignant response the director('s clone) has to Sawatari treating her like an object when he starts pondering carving up her brain during the surgery she ordered him to do to steal a grade schooler's body is just too fucking perfect.

She's a hypocritical, self-centered, hilarious zealot and I absolutely fucking love her. Gonna be real sad when this flashback ends and we go back to the depressing present where Best Girl is dead.

It's chapters like this that reminds me again that Masakazu-sensei is such a masterful storyteller.
Whether it's this or Sore Machi or Getenrou, he just gets it right with these twists and turns everytime.

Man I was rambling on and on and I think I get what you mean.

Meena did an analysis and Tokio Jr had the ability to destroy Hiruko. The assumption is that the clone will have the same ability but it might fall into the hands of the director so Sensei made the poison for the worst case scenario to be able to take out the clone when needed.

So the director knows Maru has the power so he must either be the real child or the clone. But he is currently doing what she want's him to do which is kill the hiruko. So there's no need to kill him. She might assert that Meena is using Yamato for her own goals that contradict hers and therefore it's best to use the poison on Yamato. If he's the real one it won't kill him. If he's the clone he gets taken out and can't be used against the plan.

All of this seems so far fetched and there's holes yeah I can't make up my mind what all of this means.

She knew that because the clone had the ability to kill Hirukos as stated in this chapter and she knew Maru had this power as it was shown previously that she even explained to him how to do it. Now why she would send him on a way to inject the stuff into his brother if it was meant for him is a mistery. Maybe she wanted to reunite them and trusted that it would not be harmful to a normal human?
You're reading into that wrong. It was discovered during the cloning process that Tokio's child had this power. Nothing about the clone specifically manifesting the power. It's either the original has it only and the clone doesn't or both of them have the same power.

Man, her plan backfired just so much.
Moral of the story, don't do AI kids. (Aiming for world domination is fine)

This is just silicon
Happens to the best of us.
All things considered, transferring information between brains (and creating an artificial brain for that matter) would be much more advanced than "simply" transplanting a brain.

I'll have to give this a reread once it's completed. Keeping up with all those names, with quite some between mentions, doesn't bode well with my memory lmao
That or a character relationship chart would probably help a lot.

this makes me feel even more that dr sawataris death was author's asspull. he'd be way more happy about seeing maru at the camp if he considered both his grandchildren and if he knew yamato had the power to kill hiroshis he'd definitely have him help out with the town to kill anzu rather than let him pce out somewhere.

The fact that her cloned silicon brain has worked flawlessly for years is quite impressive actually
