LOL calf kick...it got popularised in MMA, rised up a few years ago in Jpn kickboxing.
Its actually not as popular in muaythai due to the stances and rules but still effective in some fights.

Honestly you'd think this kind of kick is overhyped but getting hit there truly hurt like a bitch and you feel it for a while.

The problem is that it's retarded to make him do the actual version since you can easily break your leg. A normal kick in that zone is way safer for him.

I've been taught that there's a rule in martial arts that imaginary straight vertical line between croch and nose marks most vulnerable points on human body that can knock out a person. Nose, chin, throat,Solar plexus, stomach, bladder and genitallia.
There just one very obvious caveat. It's also most easily defensible area on human body.

So kicking the balls or any of the points I've mentioned is effective but even complete amateur can defend against that and prevent punch or kick hitting the mark or minimize potential damage.
