piracy is always a service problem
they had an opportunity to partner with mangadex (or even buy it) to create a reading hub
now they're about to have 9999999 more pirate websites
because reading about the 2007 TPB debacle is too hard for these clowns
What do you mean a service problem ? The legal services are totally not MTL from the English version

'Souiller' means 'to defile', the algorithm thought it was 'come' like 'cum' instead of coming at her 'to fight'.

dang as if the dmca wasnt bad enough now we got groups leaving due to new policy. they didnt even get purged, just scared off by the new under-the-bus rule. between this, the silence, and requiring catastrophic events to return/gain new site features i wonder what mds future is. still hoping someone makes a alternative hosted in a better place that only has things md cant.

Hi everyone! We're rolling out two updates today: one highly requested enhancement and one important rules clarification.

You can now once again tailor your reading experience by filtering out content you don't want to see across the site. To set it up, go to Settings -> Blocks -> Tag Filters and pick the tags you'd like to avoid.
  • When browsing a title tagged with any of your filtered tags, you'll see a warning giving you the choice to continue or go back.,
  • You can fine-tune when this warning appears under Settings > Content Warning Preference.,
  • If you choose to ignore the warning, tags will still be highlighted in a distinct colour with an icon, so you know they've been filtered.,
  • These filters, however, do not apply to the Staff Picks, Self-Published and Seasonal carousels on the homepage, as well as titles you receive updates for.
To ensure fair access for readers and sustainable practices for translation groups, we have updated our rules on excessive profiteering to include external sites with pay-walled content and hosting of infringing material:
Groups may not promote platforms that permanently lock translated works behind a paywall or manipulate release schedules to encourage paid access.

However, early-access previews—such as chapters made available in exchange for donations or reader requests—are permitted only if all content is released freely after a consistent delay.

Any group that hosts on its own website or any other external site official releases or chapters belonging to other groups without explicit permission and proper credit is prohibited from uploading any content to MangaDex.

We have been enforcing these standards informally for some time, but growing misuse and a surge in user reports have prompted us to codify these policies.

This update ensures we continue to enforce our rules consistently and fairly, with no exceptions. MangaDex’s mission remains the same: to be a free and open platform that still allows groups to receive community support.
If for whatever reason you need to take down the whole site or not, please allow us to export anyway as backup our library, aka following list, i have 1700+ titles and export it manually is a true hell and waste of time. Just in case, thank you and appreciated your work till now.

Someone has already made a python script to do this, so I doubt it’s part of the admin’s priority. I think it’s on the mangadex subreddit.

Didn't knew, also i'm not good with coding, you have a guide step by step how you did it? Would be appreciated.

I think it’s the same
Well, what @Roler shared is a bookmarklet, which is JS code that runs when you save it as a bookmark, is not necessary to install libraries from Python, just testing I saved a xml file and a csv file, the MAL version it seems that ignores titles not in MAL, the csv it seems that is lacking some encoding from the MD response and I found a warning from empty response in both.

Because I already had a list (which was lacking my reading progress) I will not take the time to fully review if the bookmarklet is 100% accurate, but is a simpler alternative, just go to Bookmarks add new, in the url paste the JS code, save the bookmark, open the bookmark bar and click the bookmark with the JS while in a MD page, @RogueKitsune also made an alternative months ago, which in his own words is slow and not very well tested and it runs in the browser console, well I'm just sharing other options

Groups leaving makes me wonder if some of them won't run afoul of the rule:
  1. Permanently withholding some of your translations to a series for the purpose of attracting users to your site is not allowed.
Because as we know some groups delay chapters (sometimes for years or infinite time) to boost their site's traffic (and advertise their site in the released chapters for that reason), but if they leave MD entirely then those chapters will in effect be withheld permanently.
In other words, they end up breaking site-rules by leaving the platform entirely, and as a result have to be banned from the platform entirely! (always finds it humorous when the punishments end up being the same as the crime. Kinda like country's with laws against suicide)
I guess the main difference is that if they just stopped uploading here, their already uploaded libraries would remain. But if they are considered to have broken the rule, isn't it usually that their existing libraries are removed, too?

Out of curiosity btw, what exact rule is it that scares ppl off? I saw a removed chapter supposedly mentioning this, but as it was removed and I could only read the thread, I never got to see which new rule it is they do not think they can uphold, or why.
