Groups leaving makes me wonder if some of them won't run afoul of the rule:

Because as we know some groups delay chapters (sometimes for years or infinite time) to boost their site's traffic (and advertise their site in the released chapters for that reason), but if they leave MD entirely then those chapters will in effect be withheld permanently.
In other words, they end up breaking site-rules by leaving the platform entirely, and as a result have to be banned from the platform entirely! (always finds it humorous when the punishments end up being the same as the crime. Kinda like country's with laws against suicide)
I guess the main difference is that if they just stopped uploading here, their already uploaded libraries would remain. But if they are considered to have broken the rule, isn't it usually that their existing libraries are removed, too?

Out of curiosity btw, what exact rule is it that scares ppl off? I saw a removed chapter supposedly mentioning this, but as it was removed and I could only read the thread, I never got to see which new rule it is they do not think they can uphold, or why.

You have to say that you have the copyright owner’s permission to upload here now. Basically they’re putting all the blame on the uploaders, and will probably have no issues giving out personal information and IP if they get asked. The risk of uploading here has gotten too high.

If you post chapters without the correct authorization you should be banned

You always had to say that - it was in the content policy (2.2) all along, but very few folks bothered to read that. It's just been made more obvious now.

It’s hilarious that they point out that you can opt out by closing your account in 2.5, when that hasn’t been possible for four years.

Its a shame that DMCA purge happened right after the policy update. I do wish that the MD Staff would make some kind of news post about this. There is speculation flying around on every little thing now.

No, I don't remember them. I was using the MDLists to track certain titles by my own classification that were missing from the provided tags. I am fairly certain that I did not make any empty ones and only added manga to new ones when they popped up and now I have a few empty lists so I'm slightly freaking out that I will never remember/find those manga again.

As AngryPanda said before, it was always here. And maybe it was a part of the May Update for what's described in the first post, and not a response to the DMCA, but i doubt it.

To be clear the response was not about the whole chapters being removed in the entries, it was about the entries themselves being removed in the site, the search returns 9 is there one or more that are no longer listed?

Try turning your language filters off and see if something populates the list - if there are no translated chapters in your language(s), the titles may not show up under some conditions. Unsure if this will fix it, but worth a shot.
