I like this plot progression, but I can't shake the feeling that there were missed opportunities here. A more devious and unique assassination attempt that circumvents the power level would have been interesting to see.

I like this plot progression, but I can't shake the feeling that there were missed opportunities here. A more devious and unique assassination attempt that circumvents the power level would have been interesting to see.

The problem (beyond the obvious difference in power scale) is that nobody actually knows cross is being protected by three demigods. They know he has backers but don’t realize how broken they are, so he had no idea that he even needed a better plan. Not sure it’d have made a difference if he did, but the bully girl was at least able to lure him into a trap while the trio were too far away to immediately help
