time skip happened - basically its as if an earthquake hit these people's lives and they're all trying to pick up the pieces.

The mom decided to start taking care of herself, so she lost weight and visited the dad for closure. She still keeps in touch with the daughter and the dad.
The daughter finally left juvie for the weirdest attempted murder ever seen in that universe, and used it to become a youtuber. Shes still understandably bitter.
The girl kept the child, and decided to raise a better daughter than her bully was. People kinda knows whats up with such a young mother but they don't say anything. Shes raising her kid as a single mom the best she can while trying to move towards a better job as a programmer.
The dad is implied to still be homeless, as the scene involves the mom going their separate ways at the bridge. I don't know if this also a direct visual euphemism for "water under the bridge". He remains a loser somewhere caught between external blame and internalized hate. The cardboard bed under that bridge is home.

An interesting thing to note is that the mom meets the dad at a similar restaurant to the one he solicited the girl at. Did she figure this out, for a silent revenge? Maybe its a coincidence, yet its a sort of a poetic way for the relationship to be completely ended.

The themes of the manga concern the past, and responsibility. The women in the story all have moved on with their lives, where as the dad, burdened his sins, still stuck under the bridge as a homeless man. He tried to turn back time and paid dearly for it; he ran away from being a responsible adult and lost everything. The mangaka seems obsessed with how paradoxical human sexuality is at times. In this case literal self destruction. Their more recent work seems to be exploring this too, which uh has been interesting already but appears to be exploring a different aspect.
A situation this fucked up just cannot end well. Even if they got together the trauma and guilt would have been too much to endure.

I think the explanation for the ending is this

Daughter got out of prison and got a job.
He talked out with his wife but she refused to get back.
The new daughter was born.
The new mother 'Reina' got a job.
I think he got enough money for a house but gave it to 'Reina' and the old house to his old family and stayed homeless

I was expecting some crazy and insane ending, but this is fine I guess, a (kind of) good ending to everyone.

The end disappoints me while most of the chapters we know from Dad's perspective. He used to have a sweet child, who grew up frustrated without him knowing, and the relationship between him and his wife went stone cold, and from that point, he's more infatuated of the love he had when he and his first wife got married.

He's sexually frustrated, but we won't find any therapy or nor the stoic culture let us talk to one. Shiina has had her own problem, and this is more her ever positive ending of all of them, hope it works well. The irony of this manga is for all Dad's perspective we have all in the chapters, with the ending shows almost none of him. We only know he tries to reconcile but fails, and then nothing else. Is he going back to Shiina? Doubt that, but it seems his life hasn't gone worse too far yet.

However, the Wife "needed to" divorce from him just to get back to her pretty self because she had to support from herself instead of her husband is... I dunno, how to say it. In one way, she's always been in good term with her daughter before she went to Juvie. She's been complacent with her husband she took him for granted, and divorced him when things went awry. Basically, they both discarded him when he's not useful as a husband/father figure anymore. He's disposable at any aspect.

The husband is still wrong to make a move toward a minor, that's it. And not to mention, his sexual experience with Shiina was outright repugnant, powerless, and half-assed escapism of his own mind, especially when Shiina R-ed him, in front of his daughter, as a revenge to her. He didn't enjoy it one bit. Even in his sexual escapism, his mind is somewhere else, in chaos. Looking for something, running away from something, and never in a positive state. While in assuming power-dynamic, in the end, ironically, it's Shiina who was once in control, and for revenge. He never was. He tried in his unstable psyche, but it still ended up wrong to him.

Aside of that, all's are B-class cheap drama especially with the time skip, but it's obvious we don't see the daughter have the humiliation and the bully she's done to Shiina. We only see her being a celebrity. And the Mother gets back pretty again.

In short, the husband had a lousy-ass life when he had ungrateful bitch of a daughter and a ugly wife, making him unstable and low-morale, and when they divorced, the ex-wife become pretty again and the daughter became a celebrity out of from the juvie.

Whereas, we see husband's frustration for what, 16 chapters? We don't know if he's being stable or even happy. It feels frustrating.

Coward of a man lost everything in the end. At least the girl managed to raise a half-decent kid with the power of being not complete trash of a person.
So True. Right or wrong, he could've had a "Happy Ending" if he had chosen the girl or the family before losing both.

damn this shit's ass the one person that didn't deserve a good ending got a good ending ffs
What? The husband? He basically got dumped by all 3 people he betrayed, I assume his wife was saying her last goodbye after showing him how she got herself back together. Or were you referring to his first daughter?

So the dad is still homeless and can't see his two daughters?
We actually know nothing about the dad...other than he abandoned Shiina and tried to reconnect with his family. He might still be homeless after five years...or he might have gotten an appartment or something. Who knows...the author, strangely, didn't see fit to show us what their MC of this story is doing at the end.

This ending felt incomplete because we didn't even know what's the status of Iwashita's life. Is he even taking care of Shiina's child? Or is he just living on his own now? That's the only thing I want to know tbh.
We don't know much...but there's enough shown of Shiina's life with her daughter that we can surmise that he's not longer a part of it. Also...is child support even a thing in Japan like it is the States?

WRONG, she just got on TV, she isn't an idol. She has a boyfriend and she's actually having to pay money as compensation.....

She's basically working hard to make up for what she did.....

So it's not that she doesn't deserve a happy ending, but that she only deserves happiness if she makes up for her sins...
She's a YouTube star...that's why she was on TV. She's pretty much an idol...why do you think she was invited to be on the show? Her having to pay compensation doesn't take away from the fact that she's a popular internet star now.

But she isn't successful... she's just hopeful.... her family is broken because of her actions, she has a record and she's still being forced to do labor...

She actually has more consequences than we are seeing... she just was able to over come them....

This ending shows that all 3 of the women are overcoming the struggle they are dealing with....
She's not forced to do labor... WTF are you even getting that from? She's a YouTube star with her boyfriend. Nowhere does it say she's forced to do work.

Truly a wtf manga. I think it's definitely got some ideas that it wants to put out there but I can't say I necessarily have any positive opinions about them or at least the way they were presented. Dude should definitely write some crazy psychological horror stuff that I'd never read because I hate this kind of stuff. Lol

Hmmm idk about this ending but hey at least his exwife got beautiful again.
I hope Shiina can stay positive being a single mother in Japan cause yknow housewife there is pretty brutal with gossip.
Ngl when her daughter showing support for her mother that currently going through a depression episode, I kinda tear up too.

I love the way it ended. Such a subdued and anti-climatic conclusion to everything. No one got a totally happy ending, but everyone is doing fine in the end. Even Shoutarou, as much as he's giving that "woe is me" energy, looks like he's in good health at least. Good on the ex-wife, daughter, and Reina ("Shiina" seems to be a pseudonym) for cutting him out of their lives; they look better for it.

That said, Shoutarou at the beginning of the manga had every right to feel the way he did. The thing is he should have communicated his feelings to his wife and daughter then. Their family unit might have remained together if he had. Maybe it's better for Reina that he didn't do the right thing, though. Hard to say she wouldn't have ended up worse off if she'd met more straight-forward customers.

Also, Reina fucking Kokoa's dad and having his kid is the most insane get-back there is. Goddamn.

I liked it! Thanks for the effort of translating this.
