Is it me, or is there a trend for Seinen-ification of romance mangas in other demographics lately? There's a lot of Shounen and Shoujo romance mangas that read like Seinen lately, especially this one since it doesn't really look like Shoujo nor have the writing styles and tropes of the demographic. Not complaining, though. Seinen romance mangas are PEAK.

I've noticed a small uptick in seinen romance works, but I don't really see any "seinenfication" of shounen manga (don't read enough shoujo to comment).

Most shounen romance I'm following is still rife with genre staples such as misunderstandings, unheard confession during fireworks, last-minute introductions of rival losing heroines, low-esteem protagonists with "I need to be a better man so I can be worthy of her" syndrome, usually followed by a very unnecessary contest where they'll confess their love after winning (they inevitably lose), so on and so forth - and that's because I actively try to filter out the more cliched ones.

If anything, I'd say seinen romance mangas have been getting shounen-ified, featuring older characters but doing the same resolution avoidance that is so prominent in younger romance.
