Naoi is hard for me. Her home life is abysmal and her parents are shit but she’s also caused slme of her current predicament. She abused Kudou, inflicted her trauma upon someone else who then became a victimizer in turn. She pulled the same stunt with Kurumi. I feel for her, but I don’t like her.

s'why she's such a good character. You can acknowledge that she's heavily flawed and traumatized, but she's also done her own perpetuation of shit to other people and she has to owned that.

And that's why Kurumi refusing to play along with that and actually reach out to her, for her sake, is so huge. Naoi doesn't have to be pardoned for what she's done, but I do think she's worthy of love and the chance to do better going forward.

This chapter really had Isanuma and Kudou create unintentional domino effects. Isanuma just wanted to confirm Naoi was actually the culprit and not Mine, but then caused the teacher to have all of his dirty laundry aired out. And then Kudou, while wanting to break Kurumi and Naoi's relationship once and for all, actually caused Kurumi to face Naoi head on when Kurumi was initially hesitating. If Kudou hadn't done that, it's possible Kurumi would've lost her nerve and left without talking to Naoi at all.

It's nice to finally see Naoi getting a taste of her own medicine, and I don't mean medicine sarcastically. Naoi being so persistent, and forcing Kurumi to actually make hard choices is what saved Kurumi, so I really hope that Kurumi finally doing the same to Naoi will get her to actually start trying to make things better, and maybe even let Kurumi help.

Naoi and Kurumi's love is about the least toxic thing in this manga, compared to the adults and the other kids at school around them.

Otherwise, Naoi is likely going to have to address her past with Kudou in some way. Similar to Kokoro, Kudou is engaging in some awful behavior, more so than Naoi ever has in the story. However, it's coming from a place of suffering and genuinely believing Naoi is who Kudou wants Naoi to be.

The difference between Kurumi/Naoi and Kudou/Kokoro is that Kurumi and Naoi can see each other for who they are, rather than who they want them to be. This is why Kurumi never criticized Naoi for showing vulnerability when Naoi couldn't live up to her own promises and bluster and why Naoi didn't criticize Kurumi for wanting to maintain her academics and social relationships more than Naoi expected.

If Naoi accepts she isn't the ultimate evil and is capable of having a good impact on people then she will likely want to do something to help Kudou move on if Naoi can, assuming doing so doesn't put her or Kurumi at risk. Kurumi may be something of a role molel for her here, similar to how Naoi showed Kurumi how to stand up for herself.

I nonetheless don't see Kudou or even Kokoro getting fully resolved in the near future. They are good conflict instigators who have been shown to be digging into harmful habits for quite a long time. We need some drama left for the senior year.

Kudou is hard to say, but odds are the person she'll mostly end up socializing with is Isanuma, as Isanuma did seem to take a liking to Kudou after she encouraged her a few chapters ago.

As for Kokoro, this chapter showed that she hasn't given up her belief that she has the right to interfere if she disagrees with someone's choices. If Kurumi and Naoi start dating, Kokoro would likely be against it and want them to break up, especially since chapter 20 established that Kokoro still hasn't gotten over Kurumi. Though I think Azuma will ultimately put a stop to it if Kokoro goes that route, since this chapter was also Azuma being reminded that she can't just sit idly by and let her friends self-destruct. Their arcs parallel each other. Each needing to learn the opposite lesson.

Edit: Also, Azuma is about as tall as Kokoro is and the center of the girl's basketball team, which is typically the tallest player. Azuma is designed with an athletic build in mind that Kokoro won't be able to overpower like she could characters like Kurumi and Naoi.

It seems like Kudou actually assumed that Naoi wrecked the arch, which makes sense given the text she sent Naoi right before it happened. This is probably what she told Kurumi off panel, which started to re-seed Kurumi's doubts. This chapter really highlights how much Kudou doesn't understand Naoi at all. Even thinking that Naoi isn't experiencing any suffering in all of this. Well, seems like she's about to get a wake up call, though I doubt she'll change so easily. Plus, she's likely furious about Kurumi's confession and if Naoi breaks out of her downward spiral as a result.

As for Isanuma, she must really be shocked. Naoi being cleared means she has to suspect that Mine is the one that wrecked the arch. And now she's seen what a scumbag their teacher actually is. I have to wonder what will happen when the story goes back to the school. I suspect the teacher will behave like every other adult so far does when faced with a problem, which is to say he'll run away and leave Isanuma to deal with the fallout alone. After all, he has no way of knowing that Kurumi was likely bluffing about having a recording, due to her missing cell phone. Remember she planned to go home and call Naoi in chapter 23, meaning it still hasn't been replaced yet. If Naoi comes back to school after being cleared, then all of the class will likely see it as proof of the teacher covering for Isanuma, making her school life even worse. I doubt Isanuma will stop blaming Kurumi for her problems at this point either, especially since she'll likely view Kurumi as the reason why the teacher acted out like he did and then bailed on her. If nothing else, it feels like Isanuma's being set up to be Kudou's pawn. Having Isanuma become so isolated is the perfect way to make that happen.

As for Naoi and Kurumi, it's great that Kurumi finally acknowledged/realized her feelings and was able to voice them, which is likely part of what the chapter title is referring to. Though based on what was shown of Kurumi's thoughts, I think her actual first conscious realization was in chapter 23. Now, to see how Naoi reacts. I think it will help snap Naoi out of her recent behavior to know that someone sincerely cares about her and won't just abandon her when they think she's being inconvenient to them, but with everything going on with Naoi's life right now, she might not accept Kurumi's confession immediately, but we'll see what happens in November, since the series is on break next month.
