If i remember the novel right, we're getting close to the Demons invading Limia's capital, (MC's senpai) Girl Hero's base. Goddess will strike a deal with MC for him to save her. MC will curbstomp everything and have his last fight with Sophia. Also, Shiki will kill Lancer, bc he's pissed the dragon hurt MC. Tho the anime already covered this as well.
Lancer ga shinda!

Slightly Wall of text-y but a fair bit of context and content that has yet to be covered.

If memory serves, the girl at the end is indeed the Guild Master Root, the Prismatic Dragon. Regarding what I can recall as it's been a while since I read the novels, Root can best be described as pansexual to anything that catches their fancy. More often than not, this is otherworlders, Makoto, his senpai and the Empire's heroes are by no means the first otherworlders here. One of Root's late husbands, was a very VERY bit RPG nerd and the result of that is the creation of the guild, it's class system and more importantly, the Level System as it stands. One of the things he was insistent on, was the level cap of 65536, because that was the highest possible number for 16-bit games at the time. This coming interaction may be linked to Root revealing to Makoto that his level reads as "1" every time it's checked, because his actual level is significantly higher than what the system knows, resulting in an error and defaulting to "1".

Ugh, I hate the bits where Makoto's servants decide to arbitrarily hide info from him. To me, this is always a dick move that only sows distrust.

Also, what's the point of spending time on Sofia's background and link it to another student? We all know she's gonna die the next time she meets Makoto. And it's not like she's a popular character.

Well, I guess she just ends up mindwiped and working in Kalaneon, iirc, but that's essentially the same thing.

It'd be funnier if his level varies wildly every time it's being inspected because memory overflow and all that.

Edit: I forgot the spoiler tag.

that makes shikis search for sofia a dead end if shes killed by makoto, without them ever meeting.
why did the author choose to write the background story then?
