If mahiru doesn't win i swear it's going to be a blood bath and im going to rip and tear everything in sight
Seriously tho she just has the best chemistry with the mc and it's not even close
It's crazy to think anyone else can win logically speaking
but asahi is fmc so she has a higher chance of winning by default which is sad
Still expecting a botan to happen and the story giving equal attention to all 3 (4?) girls kinda helps with the ambiguity
I didn’t expect Botan to pull it off back then. I want to be wrong again.

If you really think about it, there're only two possible outcomes for this love grid(?), assuming incest is banned and the goal is to pair up everyone: "Sora-Fuwa & Mahiru-Asahi" or "Sora-Mahiru & Fuwa-Asahi." Notably, neither of these includes the main couple, "Sora-Asahi" as that one would necessitate "Mahiru-Fuwa" as its counterbalance. Additionally, the former is kind of nonsensical due to the second half: "Mahiru-Asahi," so that would suggest the latter to be the more likely of the two.

And if we think of this in terms of the author wanting to give all three of the main main characters a happy ending, then this arrangement specifically makes a fair bit of sense. Because no matter which of the main two girls Sora gets with, the other is inevitably left out. But by giving Mahiru a chance, then both girls get to be happy (by being with each other) without Sora getting left behind with nothing.

Maybe this wasn't their intention from the beginning, (If so, I imagine they would have started pushing for Mahiru a bit earlier...) but I can definitely see this as the author pantsing this whole thing (which, as far as I know, is how most manga is written anyways) and wanting to come up with a ending where everyone can be happy.

Oh, and technically Pilvi's there too but honestly I completely forgot about her while writing this and had to edit this part in afterwards. And I definitely feel like she was introduced too late to be a serious contender, anyways. Mahiru was literally there from the beginning and Pilvi's been kind of left on the sidelines recently. I guess she appeared in ch32, but that definitely feels more like a Fuwa chapter than a Pilvi chapter. That's how most of her recent appearances feel, honestly. Just a member of the supporting cast.

Where does Dark Magician Girl fit into all this? Or is she not interested?

I appreciate that I've been here long enough to understand what a "botan" is.

Of course she does lol. Been like that for a while. This turned from an actual interesting love triangle to a generic harem a long time ago.
I do love the characters but it really is giving Nisekoi vibes where you know that most of the likable other side characters are not really playing the same game as the main trio

You forget the harem ending where our man Sora takes all four miya, asahi, mahiru and pilvi as his wife's.

Ok so let me get this straight...the beginning of the manga starts with the premise of a REAL love triangle where all 3 sides are made and one pairing is actually gay which is ACTUALLY interesting, but 35 chapters later and now the love triangle has crumbled and its turned into another pseudo-harem until the ending where 1 girl is finally picked...so basically the same boring slop as every other love "triangle" manga, because for some reason Mahiru had to develop feelings for her bestfriend (showing how the author cant see guys and girls as just friends), Fuwa gets rejected by Prez and told to suck it up because she somehow fell in love with the guy she rejected already, and Prez has always been in love with the MC, which basically spoils how she is guaranteed to win because Mahiru is too late into the game and Fuwa is basically comedic relief and her crush on Prez isnt taken seriously at all and had no development...not to mention MC is just another Nice Guy™️ and thats the only reason the girls like him...yeah I think this is where I stop reading.
