Well if your uniform covered even your neck but the only exposed skin on your body is around your chest and on top of that the cleavage is hidden by a necktie it‘s pretty hot ofc people will at least steal a glance.

people who don’t usually do that are either gentlemen or uncultured swine, well mostly the latter.

Traditionally grown food might indeed be expensive, all things considered. Habitable planets apparently are rare and thus the dude dreaming of his own house on a planet is a big dream. So, reserving space for traditional farms must be quite luxurious. The sort of hydroponics and tank-grown meat we saw is more convenient for space stations.

Imo the author blew it with this protagonist's character writing. Same thing with 'Serena'. They are both VERY annoying in their own way. The way MC is annoyed by her, basically looking down on her, makes this protagonist extremely unlikable (and ironically, the MC be annoying themself as a reader). Also she's a clear love interest.. Why make their relationship so difficult from MC's perspective? It's like this dude can't stand her. Also the way this MC shows no interest towards beatiful women who show interest towards him, another japanes trope. And yet this guy still somehow ends up in relationship with 2 women, even though he lacks every interest towards womens charms, AND he himself has zero charisma.. It just 'happens' how these characters ended up into bed the first time. Talk about lazy writing.

You go quite far with your criticism. The MC has a penchant for helping damsels in distress. That's how he ended up with his two current girlfriends. He also helped the medical researcher woman the same way, though she didn't stick around, being a career woman. On the other hand, Hiro is living his dream of being a free mercenary, able to go wherever he wants and leave any place he doesn't find enjoyable anymore. His extremely high performance ship makes it possible and convenient. Serena represents the opposite to that. As a high-ranking officer, she won't easily be in such personal danger than Hiro would need to rescue her. She's also a part of both the nobility and the military, which both are exceedingly restrictive, hierarchical, and tradition-bound places. Hiro absolutely doesn't want to be bound in such a system, where he couldn't dedice his own path and future.

Hiro has enough charisma of his own. His piloting and pirate-hunting skill are top-notch, which would make any random mercenaries respect him, male or female. He helps people without only thinking of his own benefit, though he's also not a pushover and makes sure there's compensation coming for his official work. His unique ship naturally is a part of his charm as well in a space opera setting. Mimi and Elma seem satisfied with his performance in the bedchamber.
