Was making a deal with Jaymar really the right move? or is this just a trap waiting for MC and Nell later on? :pepehmm: I also can't wait for the next chapter. I'm really looking forward to seeing Nell's parents' shocked expressions when everything finally comes out.

I feel like it was at minimum the least distasteful option. Jaymar's goal is a known quantity: Protect the kingdom at all costs. As long as Nell is connected to them, Yuki will protect them in order to protect her. Jaymar will only become an problem again if Nell is turned against the kingdom, which Yuki is in the best position to do, and if Yuki sincerely decides the kingdom has to go Jaymar knows damn well there's nothing anyone can do to stop him.

The whole intrigue does not make sense. If the minister and his allies knew about the MC before launching their plot, then they are morons: they themselves are the only source of anti-Nell sentiment that matters, the only ones that could profit from it, which was made perfectly clear through this song and dance. As it's leader, realistically you would expect the demon lord to slaughter you and be done with it, since it achieves all his goals without having to put up with you. Why didn't he? Weak writing that's focused on the desired outcome rather than logical progression of events. If they didn't know about him at the time, then they are hypocrites - they wanted to replace her with a weakling for personal political gain, despite the spiel about "protecting the country".

Because Yuki doesn't WANT to kill anybody. He doesn't care about being a demon lord, conquering humanity, or any of the other baggage that normally comes with the title. For him it's all about making his dungeon a comfortable and safe home for himself and his wives/friends. Jaymar thought the king was a bad ruler because he couldn't prevent his underlings plotting and scheming behind his back and was going to allow Nell to be forced into a political marriage she didn't want, so Jaymar was pushing things along to get the king replaced and put someone competent enough to pull off such a scheme in power instead. Then Yuki showed up and turned the entire scenario ass-over-teakettle and Jaymar is satisfied that even with a "weak" king the nation will have the military might of a demon lord to defend it if the king can't head off a foreign invasion for whatever reason and all the other plotters and schemers are either caught out or scared back under their rocks with the other vermin. At least for the next generation or two the kingdom is secure, so Jaymar's got what he wanted.
