Subjectivity aside, it absolutely has been bombed/brigaded by haters that have artificially shoved the MD rating down. It should, by rights, be at least above an 8. The only reason it's not is because a fair number of people saw that Minori wasn't/couldn't be Takaharu's kid and lost their minds at the audacity of the author to tell a mature story.

There are a few mangas that the Mangadex users get hate boners for; the first couple of chapters for this one have comments full of complaints, the same deal was with Hope You're Happy, Lemon.

Naturally, as the manga goes along, the haters begin to drop, but the initial score damage is done.

How many times will we have to repeat it? Minori is 14, Kyou and Takaharu have been apart 17 years. She biologically cannot be his daughter.

It does what it sets out to do well. It's enjoyable to read but I don't really think about it until it pops back up.
When it comes to slice of lives that really do stick in my memory there isn't many, probably mainly the spice and wolf sequels.

If we go by manga, i would also struggle thinking of any.

If we go by anime, i think there is a couple, like Ruri Rocks. (Yes, it's an adaptation of a manga, but i think it works way better on anime format)

In english context most of the time we use "You" it is not considered rude tho. Like asking "How are you?" Isn't considered rude, but in Japanese it would be rude to say あなたお元気ですか？

If you also look at my other comment I mentioned that in the context it makes sense, but it still makes no sense to use the romanized version of あなた (貴方)instead of just using "darling" or "dear".

You're reading too deeply man, it's just weeb shit... It's like using using onii-chan instead of big brother etc. Some people just prefer it for some things, all things, or nothing at all. I wouldn't use Anata there either, I would just translate it to darling, but stuff like honorifics and onii-san etc I would keep in.

An example where I think just using romanji would be better is "senpai" on spanish TLs, afaik we don't really have a good word such as "upperclassmen" or "senior", anything that fits requires more than one word and just becomes overly wordy and unnatural.

English has a similar issue when localizing. The words are there for translation but the norma do not mesh at all.

Was wondering why the series isnt rated higher and was looking through the comments on the first couple chapters, and... Yeesh. People have some really bad takes out there.

Series is some of the most seinen seinen ive seen on the platform recently, very wholesome and touches one some sophisticated ideas. But damn do some people just categorically hate the FMC for being a single mother and for dating more than one person her entire life. Life goes on.

Funnily enough, I'm still on the side that dislikes the Lemon manga, I still read it cause it was easier to enjoy after they wrote the "cheating" out of relevance, I also want to see where they will take MC's relationship with Kogahara.

However I still believe the author included a couple elements they didn't really know how to handle and was forced to ignore them and eventually write them out. In terms of "plot quality" I think it's pretty bad because of that, but when it comes to illustrations, dialogues and interactions, I think it's perfectly fine and enjoyable. I'd even dare guess the author didn't really care for the cheating thing and only added it as a hook of sorts to attract readers.

Currently I don't think Lemon is a bad person, but that the author didn't really manage to find any good idea as for how they broke up.

No one with any media literacy and elementary math skills is putting forth the theory that Minori is Takaharu's daughter. I don't know how often we need to keep saying this: Minori was conceived two years after leaving Takaharu.

Neither is Kyou manipulating Takaharu nor taking advantage of him. They have a mutually beneficial arrangement that they've discussed and agreed to over several chapters. Go back about 17 chapters and you'll see that Takaharu explicity asked Kyou to stay when Kyou said she found a place for her an Minori to move into.

Initial story premises are often outrageous and unrealistic. For example, the well worn premise of pulling a soldier out of retirement. Literally no agency/military does that. There are literally thousands of equally capable people who are active. To borrow another army phrase: Don't let the facts get in the way of a good story.

Rather than this, because it's impossible, I'd rather see Minori start encouraging a deeper relationship between her Mom and Takaharu.

While Kyou didn't date after Minori's father passed away, Minori was always suspicious of men in general. I think if Minori conveys that Takaharu has her seal of approval it may encourage Kyou to be a little less reserved while sober.
