I was taking the series seriously, as if it was drama, but I guess I should throw all that through the window.
I'm expecting a "bait and twist" there was too much "you'll learn who you truly love" and "are you sure you want to go through with this" and even Maya's "my lady..." despite her actions last chapter.
I wouldn't be shocked if she gets pulled through that door and finds out Gray is there waiting for her and the whole thing was a ploy to see if she'd truly want to marry a commoner despite the opposition from family and if she'd stand up for him even after he "fled," and to see if Gray had the resolve to fight back against those same odds.
Would it be stupid? Yes. Would it redeem this shitty arc? No.
Did things changes form the web novel(?)? Can I no longer trust the comments?
No, this goes completely different from the WN because this is following the LN, an important distinction in the events between both because the web novel is subtitled as Web版・バトル仕様 (Battle Version), so is alot more gory and with a different focus, Grant get killed by the mc in a duel at the coliseum in chapter 47 of the web novel with the aftermath at 48, is this same guy but in the WN he show up alot later, because the leads are already in a relationship and Gray is attending the Knight AcademySo, honestly? Probably not. What you read in this chapter is right about what I remember reading in the web novel. The previous commenters may have been getting him (the young lady's cousin or whatever) mixed up with some later villain type character.
We got baited twiceFuck I got baited.
istg I though it was the end and I was like "wait did the series get chopped???"Normally an adaptation would end here, but it seems to not be the case here
