The way the dialogue is written, halfway through I started to think "wait...are they supposed to be implying 'the one she's supposed to love' is Grey or something? Because even the dude says that line. Like, the repetition is truly perplexing".

So yeah, I do too, even if the last chapter would be kind of a rough non-sequiteur towards that development.

IDK about the direction of this manga anymore with this sudden NTR stuff. I wouldn't even be surprised if it gets AXED in a few chapters, especially since it takes several months just for a single chapter to drop But yeah, in the next chapter will definitely pull some plot armor for MC. ... But this isn't NTR though? Alicia isn't going along because she wants to nor was she cheating on MC or seduced by the scum. This is a trope of a princess getting rescued by her prince before the dirty evil deed is committed by the villain.
But yes, the slow update of this manga is likely going to get this axed; monthly releases only works if the writing is good enough to get readers thinking and wanting. This manga is not great writing, but it has great assets.

They do a duel for the fmc hand in marriage, shit head prince hires some fancy knight, knight gets their ass killed by Gray, shit head prince then gets personally killed in public by Gray and fmc. All with full blessing of the king, so no one can doubt the validity of their victory. Shit head prince then gets resurrected in a dungeon, his punishment being to be tortured and experimented on as an immortal flesh dummy forever.

I'm expecting a "bait and twist" there was too much "you'll learn who you truly love" and "are you sure you want to go through with this" and even Maya's "my lady..." despite her actions last chapter.

I wouldn't be shocked if she gets pulled through that door and finds out Gray is there waiting for her and the whole thing was a ploy to see if she'd truly want to marry a commoner despite the opposition from family and if she'd stand up for him even after he "fled," and to see if Gray had the resolve to fight back against those same odds.

Would it be stupid? Yes. Would it redeem this shitty arc? No.

If the translation is accurate with original intent the “Who she’s truly meant to love” and “The one you truly ought to love” lines might be worded exactly for that reason.
