Bernadette’s short-sightedness(?) regarding the Saintess’ pilgrimage makes sense given she will never, and has no need to understand the commoner’s viewpoint as a result of their education.

She has her own role there, and it seems clear here they do not possess the knowledge as to just how deeply rooted the corruption within the church really is, which she’s doing an exceptional job uprooting and reporting it.

They are only willing to see from their perspective, with their respective biases formed during their school days, which, mind you, there isn’t anything inherently wrong with, and that perspective is well suited for the environment they work in, and at the scale they work at.

It’s nice to see everyone being able to fit into the roles they were essentially made for. Like the satisfaction of completing a puzzle that is this kingdom, and the resulting prosperity that comes with such an event. Everything is falling into place!

Sauri's behind Orva for "least grown individual", but he at least seemingly got out from under his mother's spell who had poisoned him against Bernadetta, because he actively acknowledges her intellect and capability and has realized his error in that regard.

their father being a dipshit who refuses to cede the family title to Bernadetta isn't Sauri's fault. Yes, Sauri could step down from the succession battle, but I'd argue that it serves as motivation for him to keep pushing himself forward, which is good for growth. And there's a timer on it, anyway; if he does take too long in finding a fiancé, then Bernadetta scores the succession rights anyway.

You're not wrong, he's still not great, but he has some advancement and progression in his story. Orva.......really was just a meathead from start to finish, and now has a wife who will literally mother him, it would seem (sternly, hopefully).

Do wonder if there's an element of Sauri making unreasonable standards for his potential fiance to ensure that Berna has no competition for becoming heir. He seemed to have begun to almost surrender his position upon learning Berna's true abilities. Thats how I'm choosing to see it pre last ch.

While Aini's personality improved a lot after the incident, she still manage to be one big hell of headache to Bernadetta and others.
Also, Seraphina's plan of "honey trap" foreign prince succeed, poor guy.

Feels like a novel ending. The villainess never went crazy or turned into a demon or started committing crimes. They had some school drama and they learned from it. That's refreshing.

Shoutout to Orva and all the fellas who want to marry a domineering mother-type. Maybe she just accepted the dual job of babysitter/lady of the house. It's a big promotion from head maid. But I like to think they are genuinely into it, like little freaks. <3

Only thing is, there's being into dominant mother-like women because it's hot, and there's marrying them because you're a fuckhead loser manchild who is incapable of taking care of yourself and needs a nursemaid for a wife because otherwise you'd have a godawful diet and wear dirty underwear all the time.

The former is fine, have at. Orva is all but certain to be the latter.

Since it's basically over, this was a nice and simple story, idealistic in its view, but it works fine since it's about the coming of age of some noble kids. They learned at school, as intended, and entered society properly. Berna is my fav, btw.

I'm glad the grown up versions of these characters are treating the "incident" for what it was and aren't hung up over it years later. Over all I really like this whole cast, even the bastards!

I love that Aini is in "adventurer" outfit. As if she flew straight from wherever she was.
Personally, I think the wedding dress looks rather plain and understated for the station. I guess it's a choice.

I don't know I think the manga was good, but it's totally unsatisfying and I have no real attachment to it. It's just kind of a nothing story, like breathing. Just there one moment and gone the next. Nothing really happened, it has nothing to say about medieval life, the aristocracy, the church, and nothing about idealism. It was written really dispassionately like someone who wrote it only because they needed to kill time in their life while bored on the train ride to work or something. At least it wasn't the usual isekai or edge lord slop that gets pumped out.

It just kind of takes a bunch of otome game tropes and says ok but what if the people were reasonable and not insane dumbasses. Maybe that's the point of the story? That otome tropes don't work without a bit of insanity to it. After the last chapter I'll probably never think about this story again. There really was just no part of the story that stands out or was particularly memorable. In a way it's amazing that it was popular enough to get a manga adaptation at all.

Cute little story, a "what if the people in a regular otome setting aren't clinically insane" premise that didn't overstay its welcome.

That said, the way they dismiss Aini, who is trying to improve living conditions for the lower class, comes across as pretty elitist. Like "corruption" and "inequality" in parentheses, really? If anything, it frames Aini as the "good one" here.

Maybe this world could actually use a bit of the guillotine (nobility) and some secularism (church)?

I actually thought the implication for Sauri was less that he still has feelings for Aini and more that he's become a siscon (Sandra even uses the word complex in the same scene)

The last two chapters have been a nice turnaround for this series. Making the saintess a likeable and bonafide heroic character is a good way to tie up loose ends and bring the characters to a satisfying end. And while the forced exposition that is a curse of any epilogue still feels stilted, it at least provides a little bit more depth than we usually see

Quite liked this though. A minor silly high school issue, but no one was a bad person and ya
