Been here since the first two volumes. My love for this one is a perfect example of a bell curve lmao
The beginning is really awkward, but once it finds its footing, it feels undeniably special and satisfying. They have interactions and moments of chemistry that make you believe they'll be a good couple.
Then you start getting into the last half of the series, and it's bogged down by a lack of intimacy, lack of chemistry, and a weird focus on conflicts that feel incredibly forced. They began to feel less and less like a couple the longer the series went on, imo.
Also, Yamada didn't change throughout the entire run. Rather than a character, she kind of felt more like a plot element? I don't know if that makes sense, but everything, and I mean everything, was always up to Ichi to solve.
It felt like the author didn't want to allow them to be and look like romantic partners. They just never really did much of anything. I don't know. I'm left feeling more bitter than sweet here at the end.
