A major theme in this novel is toxic insecurity - Hikari/Yuu/Aya all repeatedly show and tell Aya and Hikari that they're important to them and neither Aya nor Hikari believe it.
FIXED. Hikari never never showed to Yuu who he was important for her. NEVER. I remember AGAIN this to you: She literally BEATED him.
Hikari never apologizing for push Yuu proves she never cared him in the way he cares her.
That is the reason why the defense of Hikari is not "I am care you" but "I am not a liar". She can be a fucking selfish girl, but she never lies to anybody.
The present chapter proves, again, the selfishness of Hikari. She never SACRIFICED NOTHING for Yuu in the way who even Aya did it.
PS. Hikari never said she was still in love with Yuu in chapter 47. And again, when a girl pushes you, is the worst moment to say "I love you, but I hate liars". So, your point is valid only about Yuu being coward with Yami, but with Hikari his attitude is perfectly justified. Again, she pushed him. PERIOD.

He didn't want Hikari to find out, same reason he stopped looking for Aya at the station when he saw Hikari.
That is not the reason he didn't go to their school. Please re-read those chapters, gang. He didn't even start looking at Hikari again until after that. Like, it doesn't even get across the feeling at all that he didn't go all the way to their school because he didn't want Hikari to find out. Her name wasn't even mentioned until after it was established that he was too much of a coward to actually go to the school itself. It's made very clear in said chapter that it's because of his own cowardice and the hurt of the heartbreak in just that chapter alone. I feel like you're making a bad faith interpretation to bridge a blatant gap in the writing in a way that conforms with your biases. At this point, we're just going in circles, so let's just agree to disagree

Of course, it’s not like I just passively accepted being dumped one-sidedly.

After summer break ended, I went several times to the train station nearest her school—Hikari’s school, too—but I never saw her.

Once, I even spotted Hikari and hid in a panic, but in the end, I never caught sight of that distinctive braided hair—or of the short-haired figure she must have become.

From autumn through winter, after we lost contact, I kept turning it over in my mind.

I mean, even there he is most in mode "I don´t want anybody know about my relationship with Yami-senpai, and of course, Hikari even less" than "I still love Hikari". That realization came after.
Like Haruki and Yuu Izumi, Takamura is understandable only throught a pattern when he tries to hide the most closely possible the things who he considers "my private life". This is precisely the reason why is so strange even a random dude would know about his entrance exams to Hikari school, but not Hikari herself.

So what I got from this is that he tried to reach out but had no way to get in touch with her and has been proactive. Hikari only started liking him when he stopped trying to like her after knowing she didn’t like him which is basic teenage shit. It’s not even running away it’s just unhealthy firm if detachment because he knew his chances with Hikari was slim and aya ghosted him which is fair for a teen. Now what I don’t like is that Yuu is being pu sister by the story. He knew Hikari first but she prioritized her relationship with aya over him and only started likjim when he was depressed over her. And Aya left for family reasons and couldn’t even be respectful enough to give closure which led him to be insecure because he thought they split because of him so he tried looking for but failed. Like bro he’s a kid and yes the only reasonable one. Idek what makes aya nd Hikari friendship “ special “ when she has two other friend girls she knew longer and are better friends to Hikari. Hikari is not an angel but a doormat who had favorites. Aya kissed her man because she knew she was watching and you can’t gloss over that fake dating shit.

had no way to get in touch with her
He could have asked Hikari if there was a girl at her school named Matsushita Ayami (Hikari knows her old name per chap 31), possibly even shown her a picture. Even if it's a dead end, there's no harm in Hikari knowing about her if he's really got his heart set on Aya to the point where he'd do anything to find her.

Translation quality seems worse than usual this chapter. Lots of mistakes and/or weird English.
Yeah I even checked to see if the group changed because it seemed noticeably worse, like they just didn't do proofreading this time or something.
