I think part of the issue is that it's been shown that this girl is just looking for approval so what she's doing is for her own self interest. She's not evil or anything. But she hasn't been shown to actually care about Mitsuki. Just that Mitsuki is her ticket to the approval she's been seeking...

For them it comes off as being overconfident/bragging if you aren’t overly humble...
