Yeah, I think this is a RomCom that is pretty dependent on knowing Japanese culture and subtexts. It's a lot of misunderstandings that are probably a bit more subtle in the original Japanese text but when translated, it just comes off as a bit too straightforward.

It seems like a lot of the Dogs that turned into humans still have doglike tendencies. A human would be able to pretend, but only so much. Also, it seems like all of them have sharp teeth (all canines), so there's at least that physical trait to notice.

With the arrogance of a dragon and the ignorance of a young gun, I'm not surprised they never gotten a clue. The way they constantly refer to him as "just a human" and not the "human that slayed dragons" tells you all you need to know about how they are and what they think they can get away with.

It's lame, but it's for the better. It would have been cool to see justice served, it would have caused too much issues, especially with him protecting more than just Ellie.

I always love the "the more you mess around, the more you gonna find out" trope for these types of stories. The overconfidence of young whipper snappers paired by their immense power is always a nice ingredient for the eventual serving of humble pie.

I do have to say that this was a bit hard to read for me. So much emotion and the pure evil in this chapter was so guttural. So props to the author for writing the sorry and the translators for being able to to present the authors work in the best way possible. Man, what a twist though
