Edit: ....Nope. NOPE. The comments make so much more sense. We're probably some weird mirror (or picture frame) though.

Meanwhile, the girl used a noose to pull at Hanako. The noises, then, are more unsettling given y'guys's context.

It's the creaking sound of Yuuma standing on a chair and testing that the rope is secure.

It's Yuuma steeling himself despite the anxiety of a slow agonizing death, Hina being his last thought before finally letting the chair fall with a thunk.

It's the violent struggle of wordless suffocation, getting weaker and weaker until all that's left is a corpse swinging to and fro in the middle of the room.

Bro literally hung himself, oh my god.

Lot of ways this can go. I'm half expecting just an epilogue with totally different panelling talking about all the questions we had. The story in this chapter itself was quite nice with the love between siblings, one sister saving the other and the other risking anything to see her again. That stuff I enjoy as someone with siblings.

No, it means the series is completed in Japan. People got confused like you, so maybe the publication date and the status need to be move somewhere else.

Aaaaah! You're right! The 3rd page of chapter 1 also has a rectangle framing the dialogue. I thought it was just a narrator bubble, but it is most likely Yuuma talked to his mother's photo.

So the sound starts with creaking, that might be the chair's sound as Yuuma climb on it.
Then Yuuma's panting, it might be when he is struggling tying the noose.
When he said thank you to Hina, the bubbles are pointing upward.
There is a thunk, and a visual effect of something get hit, that might be Yuma toppling the chair.
Followed by kssh, and crrk (creaking of the wooden support?), and silence....
He ended the ritual before the 100th story....
Yeah the framed photo thing was hinted at multiple times, especially after the cops started dying and readers quickly caught on to it. When you re-read the whole thing in one go you will realize that the author was not exactly subtle with foreshadowing, but I believe this was intentional.

Most likely, given how clear and unambiguous the foreshadowing in the Hanako story is, is that we're a toilet that's somehow in Yuuma's bedroom.

I‘m very surprised that the 99th story was a toilet Hanako one. I think using a familiar story lets the author put more meaning into other details rather than wasting time on the story setting.

Yuuma is just as determined to out himself in harm’s way to save someone important to him.

I can’t believe we are left to make sense of a scene we cannot fully see (agh, the suspense), but I agree with other comments mentioning that the panels imply hanging is involved. The text bubble positioning and sequence of sounds. The end is upon us.
