After her possessed-looking appearance last ch and absence at school, I’m thinking this chapter signals that Hina is gone, but main kid is unaware just like in the ghost story. I think the breeze that blew through the window was Hina’s spirit, as it blew right after he mentioned wanting to speak with her.

The truly unsettling part here is in the uncertainty of her existence.

She could be either dead or alive, despite hints pointing at the former. She could've gotten out after some more struggling, or somebody could've helped her. That, or the old one we see now is an apparition linked to the place of her supposed death.

Perhaps, she may have persisted in that form exactly because the boy never knew whether or not she escaped to live another day. Her immortality is fed by the very superposition maintained by his avoidance from observation.

Anyway, girl's probably a ghost. This is a cool interpretation of Schrodinger's Cat 🍜🐈

Wow, such a sad story for the girl, her parents and the boy.

As for Hina, things don’t look good for her :(

Did I see that correctly? How can there be worms after all these years in such a tight container?

It's just his imagination, meaning it's not real. But he also doesn't know whether or not she got out of the fridge, so he doesn't want to open it.
