They seem to understand the value in the potions. Getting her wanting to make them more seems to make a lot more sense than burning all bridges with her instantly and maybe getting some once. They may be desperate, but damn.

The town has a lot of people sick from what the little girl said, the little girl decided that it would be a good idea to go alone into a forest full of monsters and someone threw a stone in her window to demand the medicine like that was a good idea, that just shows the level of intellect of the people in that place.
