Any update on volume 2?
Currently in the works, the chapters are a lot heftier and longer than volume 1, but there's also less of them. Already over halfway done with chapter 5 (the next chapter), aiming to have it squared away midweek if all goes well.

It looks like the anime is a spinoff.
Almost. The anime sounds more like a mix of "homage" to history, in fact almost a side history. Or perhaps even the anime is a meta-story (since the very fact of using "time travel" may suggest that the anime has intentions of altering something published in the manga).

I read the manga today and most of some of the plots in the anime exist in the manga, but with the anime's exclusive character (Konoha) acting in place of the current characters in some key parts of the story. Furthermore, I could be wrong, but the details about "eroge" that the manga even plays with (Meiko arguing with Gomikawa about erotic arts for example) end up kind of omitted in the anime (Konoha is younger than Meiko, by the way).

Until then, I can say that the role that Meiko plays in the manga (she is one of the protagonists and also the narrator) is played by Konoha in the anime.

I think it's a bit more than that, it doesn't feel like they just switched protagonists. I think the anime and the manga and the anime are actually different routes of the same story and it's supposed to be structured like a bishoujo game so it would explain why both stories follow the same plot points but focus on completely different characters.

I think both stories are meant to complement each other so you can have every character in the roster completely fleshed out by following both routes like a visual novel. Honestly I think this is such an unique concept that you would be doing yourself a huge disservice to choose only one over the other.

Good point @zvyozdochka ! I admit that as I don't know about bishoujo games (I learned more from someone on Twitter about them, by the way) and similar games, this possibility didn't cross my mind.

Man, I wish there was an English version out so I could support this manga.
