I really could just watch Lilysa and Okumura goof off forever. Not just the beginning but the end of the anime seeing what she’s intentionally lying to herself or him barely scraping to learn to grow: such good television/drama

But like the bulk of the anime, I heard the manga embraces many other characters that I failed to care about so I guess I’ll leave :bocchiwave:

I read a little bit of the first chapters and damn the scope really changed since then.
Too bad for the art style that became more "generic" and the fanservice that became a lot more tame. Not complaining though, it's the normal evolutions of manga like these, fanservice hooks you in and then it slowly get swapped for the power of friendship.

Did the English chapters just disappear? I was reading them just a few days ago and now they are all gone?

Unfortunately yes. Same thing happened to me, I was confused about why the next chapter wasn't loading until I looked at the list of available chapters. This happens from time to time when official publishers make their decisions. In this case, they allowed the first and most recent volume to be hosted here, but for everything in between you'll have to use their paysite. At least I've read enough of it now I know I definitely like it, and am much more prone to buying it.

Drags on for way too long and the cosplay shit just gets annoying after a while, only reason I haven't dropped it is because I'm already way too deep in this shithole

It ended as it should have.

But the series leaved a lot underbaked.

Aria got to step one in the romance nad never progressed from there.

Nonoka finished her first arc and was just fluff the rest of the Series.

Marina just became a gag character.

Actually only Teacher and Lylisa actually finished their characters.

Like we still dont know a lot about Okarun trauma.

We know the full extent of Okumura's trauma. His mom left his family after cheating on the dad and his family couldn't recover. His dad is a wreck and his sister was pushing Okumura away as she lashed out. Ashford Chronicles was his coping mechanism and his bond with Marina was his last connection to the 3D that got violently broken and taken away. With the subsequent bullying he retreated into Ashford Chronicles and later Lilliel Side Story as his distrust in girls and love solidified. The trauma of being capable of "loving" is what haunts him throughout the series. His fear that he would do a repeat of his mom, that he'll inevitably hurt the one he "loves" because he doesn't really love them. At least with Lilliel she's the safe option because she's an angel in heaven. The fear of being capable of loving another, loving more than Lilliel was holding him back to the very end. When he finally realized how much Mikari really meant to him and when Mikari confesses to him, that's when the phantom of his mom is erased.

Marina's the one who catches on about the nature of his trauma being related to the past. And its pushing past that and looking to the present and the future that is her main role in the story. It's why she gets that moment with him in the second training arc. If one consider's her ranking prior to Okumura's relationship development, she'd easily be top tier. But she's neither the one who blurs that 2.5 dimensional gap, nor the support in the years since she left. Its why she gave that choice at the end of her confession.

Aria, Nonoa, and Tsubaki finished their character arcs almost immediately. Aria got the full summer comiket to solidify her beliefs and growth. Romance wise she never really stood a chance, but the crush and feelings still remain. Okumura's a solid catch after all. But she's got a big enough personality to move on. Nonoa finished in Summer Comiket as well with her scene with Lilysa. And Tsubaki got her final moments when she made her cosplay for the other Summer Comiket. For the focus characters of arcs they got their own little resolutions.

The one actual loose ends would be Xiaoyou and Luluna, but the former is a victim of summer comiket taking too long, and the later because she's too much a "protagonist of another story" to get too much out of her.

This manga improves the further in you get. You can tell that, over time, the mangaka realized they had an actual story to tell.

In the beginning, the story seemed like it was a generic horny story. You know the ones. They focus on being really lewd and eventually turn very erotic with mild censorship. But that didn't happen. Instead, the mangaka slowly focused more on the actual story. With it, you get a story that slowly goes from being sexual fantasy #23545, to a story about healing from trauma and learning to love again. And I think that is beautiful.

I dropped this around 2 years ago and just recently came back as i saw it finished...

and t was even hard to binge, i was practically skimming pages for tens of chapters of shitty monologuing, i've disliked the MC since the 1st chapter and the more the manga advanced the more dislikable he is, some of the rest of the cast have a ton of psych problems that made me go "wow half these kids/people really need to go to a psychologist" -even when i don't believe in them- it's like the parents are nonexistant to guide the kids but they're present soooo... unfathomable....

I could not get into all the "lilieeeeel" bandwagon, that liliel manga they show in the manga is super unappealing, i don't really get as well all the crazyness over "idols" and "top cosplayer" but well that's a very japanese thing about idols and idolizing(guess the west is not very far off with some idolization of singers but it's a different scope).

All the melodrama and force trauma towards the end did nothing to me as i was already fedup with all the silly circular melodrama and mental problems, like "yeah yeah this is like the 40th time they spoke about the same thing...".

Edit: another thing i really dislike is how there are no other couples or men in the manga that are not background side characters(silly photographers, family members), i mean... all the other cosplayers are single!! magic!, oh and the ones that are not are lesbians cough bullshit cough rrrrrrriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigggggggggghhhttttttt it fking grinds my gears, like tnone of them exists other than to cosplay or be yuri... absolute hogwash. The only other men that briefly appeared was the student vouncicel vp and after the school arc he vanished with no trace.

Like BadHaremSchollar said they left a ton of stuff unfinished, what became of the student council president, what was her aim that we did not hear about?

oh.. and the bs "we are a couple in university but we only SLEPT together, oh boy wwe might... oh boy.. hold hands....", F YOU that's my response to that coward cop out author, absolute stupidity.

so yeah... back 2+ yrs ago i voted a temp 5... and it's barely that now at the end, maybe if the gets together with the two of them i'd have given this an 8
