Why does best girl have to suffer?
Even in her own chapter, she doesn't have more than 3 panels with fuutarou

Damn that credits is savage AF.
Now you mention it, yotsuba never got anything going right for her in regards to fuutarou.

Miku looks really petty compared to Yotsuba...

Yotsuba is out there being productive, selfless and trying to make the best situation for everyone whereas as Miku is as usual, hopelessly desperate for Fuutarou. The pancakes, the classroom brawl, her chosen profession... ALL BECAUSE OF FUUTAROU.

Also, why is Negi formatting this as if Fuutarou is going to choose one of the Quints based on his experience with each of them at the festival.

Past arcs and development be damned, Fuutarou is going choose one of the quints based on this stupid, contrived arc that spans almost 4 fcking months in our actual time.

Negi: The plot can f*&k off, bring in the pandering moments to satisfy the male audience. Narrative excellence be damned

This isn't a compelling romance narrative anymore, it has become a victim of it's own popularity. Now it's just a male pandering harem manga.

@McLXIX I like the situation so far the " Negi formatting this as if Fuutarou is going to choose one of the Quints based on his experience with each of them at the festival. "
I hopping for plot twist after the festival at least element of surprise..

Lmao. Dude, this was never compelling. It was always on this road, people were just hopeful. The signs were there, they just weren't as overt as they are now. Anyone who thought that this was going to be anything but Nisekoi 2.0 was kidding themselves.

It's got fantastic art, had a not overtly awful, but extremely generic story (without too many flaws), and nice designs and that's about it. It never had any direction or plans. Nisekoi got about 100 chapters in off solely off its art and stalling abilities before it started to collapsed under it's own weight, so did this. History could not be repeating itself more overtly, and the surprise is comical. Hell, it even had the same "girl from way back when who probably isn't going to win" shit.

I'll be extremely fucking impressed if we don't get a non-commital open-ended ending (because of that dress scene), or Itsuki doesn't flat out win solely on the virtue of being the first girl on the center of the cover and the one to appear on the majority of the covers. She just reeks of "main girl".

I agree with the past arcs and "development" being fucked, but that shit was so fucking obviously going to happen. It happens in almost every harem, especially the ones people like to try and pretend are fantastic because they "take all the girls seriously". Harems aren't realistic romances, and they don't make for good writing because of how little sense they make emotionally and as entertainment fiction. The best harems are ones that make a joke out of it, keep it on the sideline (god forbid they make it the focus) or have a clear winner in sight from the beginning. Even then it's an absolute pain.

@Yautja

I thought it was compelling in the earlier chapters since I was enjoying myself, and the majority of it's readers seem to be having the same amount of enjoyment as I am. It really was quite intriguing trying to find out who Fuutarou will end up with. Each of the Quints WERE interesting in their own right.

To be honest, my criticisms of this manga come from the fact that I want this to be fun to read until the end, and it is slowly but surely failing to do.

As you might know, people actually write their damn dissertation from this manga. Now, I don't see them anymore in Reddit. It's score at Mangadex was around 8.98(If I remember correctly) by the end of the flashback Yotsuba arc, then, it all went downhill from there. I can see myself just dropping this if this contrived non-nonsensical narrative continues. Unless of course I want to continue rolling my eyes when ever I start reading a new chapter.

I don't blame you and totally see why, it's fun in the beginning. I loved Nisekoi at the start, and then I realized where it was going. I had the exact same feelings, enjoying learning about the girls because they were all interesting. But knowing what I know, it's not as interesting the second, third, fifth, tenth time through because I know exactly what's going to happen, and what's going to happen in this kind of story is only interesting when you don't know. The hallmark of a mediocre story.

Not many manga can last 100s of chapters and continue to be fun. Fun is also a shit tool to measure how good a manga is or whether or not it's deserving of criticism.

Yup, but reddit, like almost every other fucking weeb den, absolutely loves to love manga and hate people who don't. When shit goes from decent or good to bad, they slink away pretending they never were total cunts. It's only when shit gets real bad do they crawl out and pretend they never defended a shit manga. KanoKari, Shokugeki, etc. 95% of those fuckers can't write for shit, least of all objectively. It's going to continue, 100%. This is what happens to nearly ever single harem, especially the long ones. I can't think of a single harem like this off the top of my head that lasted more than 100 chapters that didn't go to total shit.

No "choice" is going to me made. It's a classic build up to nothing, to stretch it out. No problem though. I prefer the slow burn.

Seeing a gif of Yotsuba's soft confession scene got me to seriously start reading this manga. Yotsuba is a long shot but I support.

This chapter reassures me why I can relate to Yotsuba the most out of all the quints. I feel like I'm supposed to relate to Miku the most, but Yotsubas situation and personality are just way too similar to myself.
