Aaaaaand I'm dropping this series.
I've been debating it back and forth but the introduction of a new, and seemingly unlikeable, character just did it for me.
I didn't actually think that the author would literally chronicle Komi's journey in obtaining 100 friends. I would have thought that at some point, Komi would have been satisfied with her current number and instead make a greater effort to improve her current communication skills with the friends she already has.
We are pretty much 200 chapters in and Komi herself hasn't progressed as a character.
Actually I'm wrong, the progress she did make was being able to answer phone calls quicker and being able to talk to SOME people via phone. It only took 150+ chapters right? Seeing new characters constantly pop up is at this point unnecessary filler that is detracting from the overall story. It has gotten to the point that the author needs to remind us of the names of some of these characters.
Newsflash: if you have SO many characters that you need to rename them so that we don't forget who they are, then you need to stop. You are literally creating pointless and forgettable characters that are unnecessary to the plot.
And no I'm not complaining about the lack of the romance plot. That's second. The main plot is the story surrounding Komi's communication disorder. This main plot has been hindered for the longest now. Remember how Tadano was helping Komi by making her practice to say good morning? What happened that? 198 chapters and she still can't utter good morning. There are people IRL who were supposed to be permanently paralyzed from the spine but are making faster progress in regaining their movement than Komi is in uttering a simple "good morning". Ridiculous.
