@Oneesama he didn't need one he got his own flashback through 100 demons flashbacks already. Although I must say, even if he dies the story can still continue. There's 1 mystery that was never solved.
Why does the Oni exist? It makes little sense for Muzan to be the progenitor of the entire "race", while he is the oldest character in the story, he is much too young to be the first Oni to exist.

Edit: I just thought of this, Muzan may still be alive. If so, Tanjirou will be Muzan for the next few chapters, he's partially transformed into a demon through Muzan's cells. And Muzan even absorbed him for some time. He may have managed to live by hiding from the light while inside Tanjiro's body. That's literally the only way out he has. This would also be a way for the author to save Tanjirou, Muzan would keep Tanjirou alive just so he could escape from that place.

Guys not to rain on anyone's parade, but If Tanjirou actually became a demon, he would be scorching alive right about now. Muzan's cells or not, If you are a demon, you die by sun exposure. We saw it with Nezuko (who also shared his blood) when she got exposed to it briefly that one time, and literally any other demon.

If Gotouge decided to change that one rule in her story, then THAT would be the biggest bullshit retcon she could have come up with, beating the past regression Tanjirou was having while high on Muzan's blood.

@BloodySorcerer They literally explained this chapters ago... One random doctor tried to cure Muzan from a certain desease and made him into the first demon. Muzan kills the guy so it remains a mystery on the exact process. At this point we may find out or not, since it seems like one of those things that aren't meant to be explained.
