It's for the fact that dragon is long lived, so they probably lived long enough to hear their living ancestor story about stuff that happened, meanwhile humans have living in peace while neglecting what was fact since it cannot be uphold anymore(demons supposedly to be eradicted, the only living "inferior eyes" cannot receive the same magic education that was happened in the past. not restricted to them, but to human in general, since magic is declining).

Also for the irl fact, animals are known to have acute sense of danger, much better than human. Without technology, humans can predict incoming disaster by observing animal movement.
