Thus, just the one, white, fluffy cat. Sitting on the lap. Being petted. While The Villain says the most outrageous things in a calm voice.

Of course he's calm; he's got a fluffy white cat on his lap that he's petting.

Just imagine what he'd be like without the cat.

More cats, while nice in some ways, would diminish the impact.
