I love how nonsense the author can be writing the personality of the girls, their are definitely the "main character" of the story (with sou being a plot device for them).

I disagree; while Sou is definitely mislabeled as a Protagonist, since this really is an ensemble cast, he's just as important to the plot and has a character that enables the humor of the series. Most importantly he's denser than a neutron star, and it's funny to read him misunderstanding everything around him, and his obliviousness allows a lot of the events to even occur.
