Likely there never were many men in the first place. This manga just depicts the human population as near equivalent to chickens: many females to every male. With the exception that in the chicken population males (rooster/cock) rule and protect the females (hen). i bet countries have VERY few ongoing conflicts because the population growth scales directly with the number of women, so i bet when a couple of countries faced the consecuences of conflict they stopped instantly. for example paraguay lost 90% of the male population in the triple alliance war and they are still here. if they would had been lost 90% of the female population the country would be a barren place right now (they were about to loss even the women and children too).
