I'm pretty sure that was Alfine at the end, so I see her long black hair became a pixie cut and she dyed it blonde, plus she's going under the cover of Meila's "younger brother".

Both of them have now changed their hairstyles, haircolors and assumed a new identity, so that was a "reunion" only as a technicality, while officially they're two strangers who just bumped into each other. A close call, but I don't expect more out of it.

Maybe it really is for the best for both of them to not actually meet in practice, just so both of them can finally move on from each other. Learning about the other's true identity is only going to open a can of worms at this point.
