This is the only English translation I could find. If you can find the Japanese one out there. You can use different apps, and get it somewhat translated. I must warn you that only volume one has a proper story. The further the story goes the flimsier the plot becomes. It's basically an erotic story. Each volume ends with a different sexual fetish. Outdoor sex, filming, breast-play and at times the consent part is a bit dubious. The latest story, volume 10, really goes overboard. Marika wears a remote-controlled bullet vibrator and she wears it during a school trip to the aquarium. Marika tries to refuse, but she accepts it due to Aya insisting.
I really enjoyed this for the most part but god chapter 11 kinda annoyed me. So Marikas two best friends reveal they're dating and in a Lesbian relationship (kind of weird out of nowhere but ok) but yet Marika refuses to reveal her own relationship with Aya despite sending them to the bar she works at. Also neither of the friends ask why she knows about a Lesbian bar
One thing that stuck in my mind on this is that Aya was trying to show Mari that homosexuality wasn't that weird but then both Aya and every other lesbian they meet are complete weirdo perverts.
I think this is one of the only manga I’ve genuinely dropped. The entire premise is obviously silly and contrived nobody was expecting that no to happen but the way everything is done is just. Really fucking rancid. Like there is just rape she just says no multiple times. If it isn’t enthusiastic consent it isn’t consent. And that on its own is pretty bad but then there’s the just, outright theme of pedophilia. And also how it handles Aya’s loneliness too is just the grossest. Adult admits statutory rape. Result: gets played off as a bit initially and then later revealed that Aya was literally taken advantage of as a kinda depressed lonely girl who just wanted to find a place to belong but an adult! More than once! And she isn’t even the only fucking victim! And the story just, cares more about how much Marika is mad she has exes or some shit. The entire romance is contrived and rapey but then somehow it tops that by making light of a genuine depiction of grooming and statutory rape. I genuinely cannot see how someone could like this. Like more timid girl gets grounds for restraining order against more assertive girl Isn’t as uncommon as it should. I mean fuck it bloom into you even has that to an extent. But this really is the worst version of it where rape just gets continuously played off and also shown. And then somehow a girl falls in love with her rapist. It’s, really fucking bad. I have no idea how this got rated well.
When I started reading this. I thought it would be some innocent casual development of a relationship between two females, but I was somewhat wrong. The concept of the story in your head when you start reading probably goes like this; "Lesbian likes Straight Girl, So she tries "converting" her, by paying her". Personally that's what kind of story I thought this was after reading a couple chapters anyway. Of course, that's not exactly it. It's actually somewhat wholesome, but also weird, and uncomfortable (I say uncomfortable. But it's not really that extreme for you as a reader. The MC is oblivious/heedless, determined/stubborn and innocent, So maybe that masks it or something. But I personally thought that the MC was uncomfortable. Maybe because of the context of the situations. An unfamiliar experience/place and she wants cash, So she will probably feel pressured.), without spoiling I can't really think of much more to say. There are some underlying factors that you won't know until the end of the story, that kinda? somewhat? justify what Aya had done (Even though Aya did do some weird & uncomfortable stuff).
If you want to read something unconventional, and not the most morally correct or accepted, then this could be something you'd like. It's pretty a straightforward story. You eventually learn everything by the end of the story and it simplistically delves into the emotions, thoughts and backstories of the main characters. The endings pretty average as well, it's not one of those stories where you're sad or happy at the ending, but just satisfied... I guess. The characters ain't that hard to understand and because of the way they are portrayed I don't think you can really relate to the characters that much (Well I've never experienced something like what happened in the story. So I could be ignorant). The art is good, the overall story is unethical, and monotonous, mainly because its simplistic, repetitive, and because of what happens to others in the story also. It's not that bad, but it's not that good either. Chapters are long so that's a plus even though it's only 15 chapters. I personally don't think it's a story you can re-read. But I'm not everyone, So I guess just give it a shot. You understand where it's going to go early on/half way through.
Now, what I don't like is that Aya basically takes advantage of Marika's easygoing attitude, and innocence. Of course Aya has always liked Marika, and overheard Marika contemplating about compensated dating, So Aya spur of the moment wanted to Help Marika by paying her, So she wouldn't go out with random men, and get taken advantaged of, and also at the same time use the excuse of "It's impossible for 2 girls to go out together", So that Marika would begin to like Aya, and eventually they would start dating. So, Aya being hypocritical using Marika's heterosexuality, and stubbornness to take advantage of her is just disgusting to me, and probably a lot of other people as well. It's just manipulative and narcissistic (I know they eventually figure that stuff out at the bar and reconcile and Aya recognizes all her wrong doings, So she begins to be thoughtful of Marika's feelings, and then y'know what happens next.) Of course Aya was purely doing this out of the love she felt for Marika, and throughout the dates you can see especially when they went to Shibuya for the first time. You can see Aya wanting to know more about Marika by going to the scent/candle shop, and karaoke, but also using the contract/competition as an excuse to touch Marika inappropriately and convince her that her heterosexuality was false is a bit too far. Obviously I'm thinking way to much into this, I'm not really that distressed by it, as eventually she develops feelings for Aya, So it doesn't really cause any damage. But just imagining if this situation ended up with Marika not developing feelings is what makes it weird. Any ways the story's ending is wholesome and cute even though the story wasn't really like that at all. (My bad if anyone thinks im too invested, I just want to share my thoughts) Oh and also the fact that this is literally skipped over is crazy. Karen sleeping with a 15 year old??? That's insane to me that it just got skipped over like that. And it's also the fact that it was a foreign student who wanted to just read Yuri and now she's turned into this sex orientated person. Insane.
