It's a legit question. The chapter covered it pretty well...Shimamura could be into Adachi without being attracted to girls generally.

In fact, that's such a common thing in yuri works ("I'm not into girls, but for some reason with you...") that it's quite notable when someone actually is just attracted to girls. I'm in Love with the Villainess is an example; the main character says she is in fact gay and finds girls attractive--it was a big moment because that just isn't done much in manga. At least, for a serious romantic lead to say it.

There have also been a lot of takes on aromantic or demiromantic characters, but we don't find such self-aware vocabulary in manga.

Gosh this is such a highlight moment of the series for me. Without writing too much I love how it just throws everything the series has done so far in our faces, particularly in regards to Shimamura.

There's something I really love about Shimamura's extremely detached, almost third-person perspective; I often found myself thinking like that and I used to think that was normal until someone finally told me that it wasn't. It felt really validating to read how she evaluates everything about herself and how she interacts with other people.

It's also really great how she double- and triple-thinks everything because of this disconnect, because as I learned the hard way myself, the feelings that lie underneath these thoughts didn't go away or become unattached to the thoughts—they were just buried under the words chosen by the brain. So seeing Pancho help her realize the things that she felt, but never identified, was amazing.

I think I agree with the assessment that she's ace, at least with the reveals we've gotten so far. Some asexual people did report that they could still regularly have sex with their significant other(s), as they see it less as a sexual act and more a bonding activity, something that allows them to express love or feel the love their partner tries to express. I can see her doing this with Adachi.

I really like this interaction here.

I'm trying to figure out why I like it, but honestly, there's so many reasons I have to like it that it's hard to find which one it actually is.

Guessing I like it just because... this shit is actually just really relatable for me. Though I also just like the fact this supporting cast member that I don't remember just clocked Shimamura instantly. Sometimes, you don't notice things about yourself until someone points them out, and that's pretty much exactly what this moment is.

Anyway, just wanted to say that I really love this whole interaction, but this page here is my favorite. Good stuff right there.

Fun fact: Her name isn't Pancho or Sancho. Shimamura just can't bring herself to remember the names of the three of them (or even learn them in the first place), only that their names sorta rhyme with Sancho de los Panchos and so she internally calls them Sancho, De Los, and Pancho. As members of the audience, we never learn their names.
