Quite the declaration, though. Adachi lighting up like that was a delight--she's still fairly encased in her shell of awkward standoffish anxiety, but seeing her open up more and more around her lover feels like a wonderful bit of payoff for their journey.

Everything ahead may be obscured for now, but at least they've got a guide in one another.

Id be inclined to agree like 25 chapters ago, but as of right now I think Shima genuinely likes how possessive Adachi is. As she said herself "Adachi's the only one I could feel this way towards" She loves Adachi right now because of the way she is in her entirety, social anxiety and possessiveness included. Doesn't mean she can't be annoyed at Adachi's overthinking and jealous behavior, but unless she gets much worse in her negative traits I don't see them breaking up. Shima will likely continue to be more and more tolerant of whatever Adachi gets up to

Ive took a long break from it since was getting too tiresome and after 7 yrs and only +40 chapters released is fair to say it basically havent gone that far at all. The story changed a bit, they're sort of "dating" now, but after skipping a bunch of chapters i still see Shimamura as pretty much the same. Somewhat apathetic to everything, mostly to Adachi romantic feelings, while Adachi is still the desperate puppy who feeds on crumbs.
I might just come back if this ever gets finished during my "timeline".
